Konami's history and msx platform.

I would like to ask information or articles about konami's last period for msx.

Regarding the fact that psygnosis and team17 were made the big companies they were through the amiga platform i think that the same thing happened with konami and msx.

I know that there were piracy reasons and the fall of msx standar after 1988.

However was konami's decision happened at once?Were there any articles on newspaper or articles on the japanese area of the early 90ies that suggested that konami might stop producing games for the msx platform?

Most of konami games were excellent games very well designed in that period (space manbow,metal gear 2,sd snatcher and others).

There were a lot of msx machines in the japan so the production costs could easily not be a problem (if there only a few machines it would not be worth it to produce games for that platform).Or maybe the msx market was already shrunk?Is that the reason that there was never an official msx2 english version for metal gear in europe and it was only a japanese release?

I just cannot understand the reasons regarding the fact that konami produced games for the much inferior nes until 1993 or 1994 i think.(the ganbare goemon series i think).

Anyone that knows something more?

NES are/were all around the world, MSX only in Japan and in Europe, mostly (Brazil doesn't count as they didn't sell anything there).

Konami released a lot of games on Arcade and the NES/Famicom too, so it's not only thanks to the MSX they got big. As for Konami's goodbye to MSX, that's not Konami-specific, the MSX just wasn't as lucrative anymore. Plenty of other companies also abandoned the MSX in the early 90s.

Similary, I think that if the current Nintendo craze keeps going (and it seems to be that way), you'll soon see Konami shifting from Sony back to Nintendo as the primary focus.

Nope, Konami was already a big firm (arcades and I think also gambling machines etc) and MSX was just one the platforms that was commercially interesting until the end of the 80'/beginning of the 90's. Most probably they just started out as a firm that made juke-boxes. (Can anyone confirm this./ google this?)

From Wikipedia: Konami also can mean "small wave(s)" in the Japanese language.

So, Ko is like small, which makes Tsu large?

No. Ko means small indeed (and nami is wave), but 'tsu' from tsunami means 'port, harbour' - probably implying 'waves that enter the harbour' or something Smile. The opposite of 'ko' is 'oo' (from the verbal adjective ookii). Large wave, thus, would be 'oonami' Smile.
