Help loading Aliens please

Hi, I'm trying to load Aliens by Electric dreams. The loading instructions they are giving me is load"cas":,r which does not work, so i tried bload"cas":,r and i loaded all the way to the end but the game didnt start. I tried on both sides of the cassette with different volumes. Has anyone got any ideas for the loading instuction? Many thanks.

While I'm sure this was just a typo:
BLOAD"CAS:",R
Did the tape recorder load other games without problems?
Do you have a second tape recorder to test with?
Even back in the days I had problems sometimes loading some original games to my Bitcorder, while others made no problems.
If not, I would first write a small BASIC program, save it and test lo reload it again, to see if the tape is working.

For any tape, first try:
RUN"CAS:" (this is the short version of LOAD"CAS:",R, but it's 100% identical in what it does)
if that fails, try:
BLOAD"CAS:",R
if that fails, try:
CLOAD
(and if that works, hit F5 when it's done)

In any of these cases, you must see that the MSX tells you Found: (optionally with some name behind it). If it doesn't do that within a few seconds after the tape noises begin, you can try the next option.

If that still doesn't work, you should check the things hamlet wrote. Then it's either your tape not OK, or your hardware is faulty.

Thanks your fast reply's, Yes i tried other cassettes in the player and they loaded fine, tried the other load commands you said but no joy, must be a faulty cassette

Strangest thing, i loaded it with BLOAD"CAS:",R and with the black plug in also and it loads every time! Thanks for your help guys.

Always put the black plug in... it's controlling the motor of the cassette player.

Thank you, all the years ive had an Msx, i didnt know that.

Aliens is BLOAD"CAS:",R but you need the REM plug in because the loading pauses at the loading screen and the REM will automatically pause the cassette.
