Very interesting! And of course you are right about the reason for the inclusion of the original ROM sdsnatcher73. It's such a pity that this version seems to have been exclusively released on the PSP. I'd love to play it on a bigger screen.

Well you could try it on PPSSPP...

Ok, ok... It was more like a joke, but anyway... If someone now wants to make GFX9000 version of Gradius2 it should be relatively simple: Load these files in to V9990 video memory and patch the game graphics routines to use these new graphics instead. The art work is already there and in correct format, so it is all about just patching the code.

I know I make it sound really simple while in reality quite a lot of reverse engineering is needed, but anyway... I think it would be definitely doable.

A GFX9000 version of a cool classic Konami MSX game like Nemesis 2 is something that MSX heavily needs ! Smile I hope someone takes this project. Smile

Probably they just created some kind of very basic BIOS to boot the game, and added a new VDP register/functionality in the emulator to scroll pixel per pixel.
Then the hacked rom is almost the same game, but with a few modifications to update the scroll offset, skip the stars scroll...

In fact, if you use FAKE_MSX.ROM as BIOS and skip the VDP access in the interrupt routine (scroll register?), the game (RC751_HACK.ROM) works on an emulator quite similar to the original.

That is really a fascinating discovery! So Konami didn't just stop there in 1986 with that MSX master stuff...
I just keep on figuring out how much of this version can be generated with MSX hardware... Ok for poslished graphics & colours, but so smooth at every level, look at these end level ships! Hum, tricky!
Really surprising and catpivating.
