My MSX VG 8020/00 has a problem. I have a special DIN to SCART cable but I dont have sound or image . On the RF-out the same problem. No signal, no sound.
However , the Monocrome (luminance) signal is still working. I can see the screen and the pc is working just fine. But I still don't have sound and the image quality is just horrible . Any tips ? I would like to safe this one from the thrash!

Power supply missing 12V? So the YPbPr to Video converter isn't working?!

Do You know on what pins I should have 12V ?

Check : http://www.msxarchive.nl/pub/msx/mirrors/hanso/service_manua...
Page 5 is the Power Supply.

Also check page 18 for the PAL encoder, here you can also find where the 12V needs to be on the encoder and DIN

Thx for the help!

So I checked out the Power Supply -> 12 V OK!
Then I checked the DIN and also there I have 12 V . So it seems that the voltage is not the problem.

A problem with the Pal encoder? But that still does not explain why I don't have any sound either.

Did you test the RF signal with the DIN cable still plugged in ? Try removing it to test it again.
Are you also sure the pinout of your cable is correct ?

The audio and CVBS signals are separate signals, the CVBS is generated by the VDP and processed by the PAL encoder. The audio signal is generated by the PSG and processed by U50 (amplifier). So I guess this is not 1 problem, but 2 problems.

To test the sound, you could check the inputs and output of U50.

Can you also post a picture of the image quality you are experiencing ?

The cable I used is :
EBAY CABLE

I did test the rf cable without the DIN cable attached.
You are correct. I have 2 problems.
I added 2 pictures of the image quality. (Bear in mind that I adjusted my cable to the luminance output because CVBS did nothing)

I still think the PAL encoder might be the problem, do you have a scope to check the signals on the JN10 connector, to see if there are input signals on B-Y & R-Y ?

Did you also check the 5V on the PAL encoder / RF Modulator and DIN connector ?

I don't have a scope , so that option is out. I will check the 5V .
