Awesome Jan. One thing: the volume is a bit (much) on the low side.
(Talking (simply) normalization, I would go for -0.3dB (though sometimes more steps are necessary to get the loudness you want))

Just check with some other videos, like MSX: Gradius 2 Soundtrack (this uploader does apply some post-processing (at least some reverb I reckon) to his recordings to get a fuller sound).

Normalizing is something to think of. Other post processing leads the result away from the real thing.

Yes, but I do can enjoy some (modest) enhanced stuff (YT uploads) that results in a richer, fuller sound. Good for the casual listener/listening, not so good for the purist I reckon (Anyway, if I want (more) pure, I use another source )
(And, apart from stuff like reverb, in some cases some compression might help perhaps to get the sound level up a bit (to better match it with the other stuff out there)).
