And this is also how they intended it. Looks like it's open for debate. Putting the whole machine through the MSX-Music cable looks a little odd to me tbh, though on the gfx in the clip syn linked it's visible they drew a Panasoft MSX-Music, which explains.
The Awesome demos were a few years prior to Moonblaster and used a hacked FAC Soundtracker replayer.

Edit: Just checked the manual. They rather have you stick some tape on pin 49 of the music module if you don't have an audio out on your MSX-Music.
I guess I was a tad more radical when I put the knife in it

Doesn’t the MSX-Audio output through the MSX as well?

The MSX-Music being taken from the MSX output makes sense, FM-PAC and internal MSX-Music don’t have a separate output.

Btw I wasn't saying what should go through MSX and what not, I just meant they wanted MSX-MUSIC + PSG on the left and MSX-Audio on the right, at least that is my impression from the Awesome 2 demo. I never used Moonblaster that much, so I don't know if they even have the same intended setup when it was released, thanks for pointing that out Meits.

Is it the same in OCM?

Just checked; on the Zemmix Neo internal PSG and OPLL go to both audio outputs, external cartridges only go to the white one (left).

Thus left channel is having mess of both OPLL and Y8950 in case MSX-AUDIO is installed into one of the slots...

I would add a stereo output connector to the cartridge, eliminating problems with the different internal circuits in different machines. I'd also add psg from the cart connector, and a mixer circuit. I once made a mixer with an IC that had resistors that were digitally controlled in 128 steps. Using half of them for volume and half for panning.

This will be the perfect solution!!

Futhermore, you even would have in mind to map PSG channels. For example, in TOSHIBA PASOPIA models, the PSG seems to be pan in this way:

PSG Pan channel 0=center
PSG Pan channel 1=left
PSG Pan channel 2=right

You can enjoy the result of this mix, for example, in the Robocop Intro Theme (put your earphones and enjoy the panning effect):

So for this reason, if you will provide a stereo output for Gr8Net with all the sound-chips mixed (and able to configurate position of every channels separately) will be fantastic and it turns in a must-have msx ultimate sound card! (in my opinion, of course :D)

Nice song! I’m thinking, with that it also finally makes sense to have the noise being able to output on all three channels Smile.
