With a little knowledge, you must do this with R-Type:
1) We need to create the template => http://youtu.be/S20G-pwZdLE
2) Modify the program cartridge to enable SET VIDEO 2,0,0 in game.

To put decorations as background with galaga, we must "be" as black or transparent. with this solution, it is not necessary to synchronize the sets which is much easier.
There are a few months, I tried without modification Manbow 2 and this is what we get:

This is exactly what I want to do but with my video background
would be best to get to do the same thing with a HBG900 by managing the DVD with RS232 interface , it would be fun
And it is feasible because these remote controlled drives exist
