MSX emulation for a Macbook Air M2

I am running BlueMSX on my M2 MacBook under Windows 11 in parallels.

I cannot complain, it works quite well. The cursor pad is a little small, so a USB style controller is used.

Does anyone know if there is an emulator specifically written for the M1/M2 processors?

BlueMSX was a really nice emulator for its time, but Open MSX run circles around it nowadays (even though BlueMSX is fine for most things) since BlueMSX has not been really updated/supported for quite some time... You might find it difficult to work at first, try searching for the machines descriptions and rom packs, you will find somewhere in NL to download them and have all machines properly emulated ;)

The MAC version states that it corrupted, perhaps it isn't ready for M2?

But I think the ARM Mac build was made by either niekniek or sdsnatcher73 or sndpl on an M1 Mac (which should work equally well on M2) so there should be no problem if you download the build from the frontpage?

It was not build by me at least. You can try building from the released sources. Use make staticbindist to build the app file.

I think I had the same issue. The installation appears to be corrupt, but it might be a new MacOS security feature.
Probably the image is not properly signed, or the signature is not a trusted developer.
This fixed it for me (Macbook air M1, MacOS 12.6):
from the terminal,
sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine openMSX.app

I think it is just not signed. Signing an app with an official developer account costs money (you have to pay an annual fee to have an official developer account that can sign apps). So, I think it is expected that openMSX will not be signed. The developers already do enough with working on it for free haha, we cannot expect them to have to pay $ on top of that

There's lots of ways to work around the Apple security alert though. For example, "right click -> open" instead of "double click" in an app, would give you the option to skip the safety check.

I get a corrupted disk error, I have parallels and with Windows 11 ARM, the Windows emulators work fine, at the correct speeds. I have issues with connecting my USB controller, but it is no big deal at the moment and not a priority for me to complete.

Weird, it all works fine for me. I haven't tried on an M2, but I have a laptop with an "M1", and another with an "M1 pro", and it all works perfect in both.
