1.4 By disagreeing with this agreement/these policies you agree to cease using the MRC and its services immediately. (...)
Could this be changed to allow anonymous read-only usage?

Don't nail me to it, but I guess that anonymously reading MRC is a right anyone has.

Likewise, you're allowed to think anything you want, but you can't smash a window and get away with it. These policies are just like that. You can read if you want to, but log-in, react and all that kind of stuff when you stick to the policies.

I think it's a fairly odd formulated rule... If you disagree with the rules, you automatically agree with one of the rules... but, but, but.. didn't I just say I disagreed with them?! Smile

Yes, it's logical that everyone has the right to anonymously read the MRC (that's the same right as a Google bot), but it doesn't say so in the policies. Some anti-MRC people may take the policies very literally, probably just to underline their motto: http://www.msxposse.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=171&Itemid=#jc_allComments

Here's an awkward thought: If you disagree with the current policies, you're not allowed to recheck them every now and then to see whether or not you agree with them when they're updated :p

All who think MRC is going through the trouble to adjust policies for 2 or 3 anti-MRC people (who will remain anti-MRC whatsoever, and will then find something else to moan about), raise your hand! Cool

I don't think we should take people who go all 'conspiracy' and 'nazi' on some simple anti-deeplinking measures too seriously. Do you? It's good to see that Patriek Lesparre and Albert Beevendorp haven't changed after the "lets make fun of snout's father having a terminal decease"-thing though. Really mature lads, those two.

Mind you... Patriek has repeatedly been calling us 'nazis' and 'fascists' for about 3 years now. One might begin to think he actually means it. Cute.

Well, at least it's consequent. Smile

It still makes me sad, actually, to realize that some of the world's truly intelligent and gifted individuals are somehow unable to treat people in a "normal" fashion.

Oh, what's deeplinking anyway? Question

Not linking to the page where you can click to download, but linking to the actual files -and thus avoiding of seeing the page where you had to click initially-. Given reason here is: "not agreeing with the MRC policies" .. *yawn*

Deeplinking: Directly linking to files within a domain instead of decently linking to the page on that domain from which they can be downloaded.

One would like to think that deeplinking-prevention on an MSX website would not be neceesary.

BiFi sincerely apologized for his under-the-belt attack, I don't think it's fair to bring it up afterwards.

Back on-topic. If MRC actually does allow anonymous reading for everyone, then the policies are flawed. Changing them is not in favour of anti-MRC people, but for clarity.

hap: had it been the first under-the-belt attack, had BiFi also answered the further questions I had based on the attack, had it been the first attempt to find loopholes, conspiracies, things to annoy MRC/Bazix people with, hurt people involved in MRC and/or Bazix personally and - especially - had they not returned to "business as usual" then I would probably not have brought it up again. Now it only shows he and Patriek have learned nothing from it. They are just continuously looking for ways to annoy MRC, Bazix and the people involved in it and - if possible - to put it/them in bad light of day. One theory more rediculous than another.

The policies could be better indeed and I'm sure that if you study them closer you will find many other loopholes in it. So be it. It's a blatant shame a website like MRC actually needs policies like this in the first place. The initial "be nice and use common sense" clearly wasn't good enough. In that light I think we're doing the people who are to ignorant to think for themselves and who are incapable of keeping facts and their vivid (and dark) imagination apart a favor by not allowing them to read the MRC. Protect them against themselves, I say. Tongue
