The current demo looks awesome. I would insist on it. Maybe an original design for cars could hid the low res of magnified sprites.

Fully agree. If Out Run is not a feasible option I would go for a game with less requirements. Different mechanics, story and goal. IMHO this engine is promissing and we could have the best racing game for MSX2 ever. Don't give up! Wink

As the player's car don't really "move" couldn't be tiles ?

No, because the game is in SCREEN5, so there is no tiles.

Just adding that I agree with everyone else, this looks SO good! Don't give up. Even if there should be sacrifices, I think it is still worth it! No one expects a full blown Outrun on the MSX2!

The demo looks very good indeed. Also for the Atari XL they are working on a version (see this video). Especially the corners in the road look way better on this MSX version.

In screen 4 one can get more speed. If you find a way to render the road in the charset. I mean still this nice pixel exact road. A lot of it got 8x8 pixels the same color and this could go fast in the nametable. And then the other things like the stone tunnel could be rendered in the nametable like the sega master system version.
