Haven't looked at the page source code and know little about intelligent players which can play streams, but my guess is this: 1) the receiver can play (single) streams only (MP3, WMA, OGG and/or others). 2) The "MSX Music player" is not actually a streamer anywhere, but downloads songs on-demand to your browser and some java app (or something? HTML5?) then plays them. The receiver does not have a full-blown browser environment (and JAVA) to do that.
So you'd need something converting that player to an actual stream to use on that receiver (and point the receiver there)?
I guess my best bet is to get a receiver that can connect to bluetooth devices. I could use the MSX Music Player on my phone and stream it to the receiver.
Stupid, stupid, stupid. I remember choosing between the model I have now and the same model with Bluetooth. I didn't have a smartphone at the time and I didn't think I'd ever have a use for one.
You can buy fairly affordable standalone bluetooth audio adapters, which you connect to an audio input of your receiver. I have one of those (one from Logitech), works very well, and much cheaper than getting a whole new receiver.
