Can't do that now, but if you check on IRC you can talk to me in real time. I'll be there in the evenings of GMT+1 timezone mostly. You can also talk to Wouter of course.

What do you want to discuss exactly?

Hello guys. The version 1.0 is finally here.

If you have a sony computer with floppy disk drive inside, you can press "F" to use the Sony Fast Mode which is faster and more reliable.

For those who don't have a sony computer, don't use the this mode.

Download link: (admin: removed. It contains warez)

Enjoy!

Tiny bug fixed: It was creating DMK files with zero tracks when not selecting the Format option.
Please, download version 1.1 below.

Great!! Good job!

I'd like to try it on real hardware, but I don't have a comfortable mass storage device for my MSX (just my SCSI setup, but I can only transfer stuff via floppy and it hasn't been running for over a decade, so it's probably broken). Is it possible to output to two floppy disks instead and later concatenate the files? (This was the advantage of READ-DMK Smile)
Or perhaps its possible to use some kind of compression to get the output DMK small enough to fit a single 720kB floppy disk? (This is what Alex Wulms with with D2F, see http://www.msx-plaza.eu/home.php?page=misc/xsaformat - but then we need a way to uncompress it somewhere too.)

I did a test on openMSX, though:
- start openMSX with "Boosted MSX2 EN" and IDE extension.
- start your DMK tool
- put DMK in drive A as disk (The Shrines of Enigma)
- let the DMK tool dump to a DMK file on some IDE partition
- dumping was completed
- after dumping, export the DMK file to my local drive
- try to start the DMK file with openMSX
- expected result: see The Shrines of Enigma boot. Actual result: I see the Sunrise logo, but it hangs after that. (Probably the copy protection kicks in...)

Of course this means there could be either a bug in openMSX or in your tool.

Cool. Thanks. I can try to use a compression routine in the future. Why not?
But I don't think it is a good idea because it would take several minutes to compress a 1 megabyte file.
And there is another pain in the ass that would be the uncompression of the file.Actually I like the idea just to use a mass storage device as the target.
Here in Brazil IDE cartridges or some other mass storage devices are pretty common and cheap. I have 4 ones.
But as you are using the emulator to test the tool, press "F" to enable Sony Fast Mode. Test if it works.
Can you please send me this Shrimes DMK file? I would like to do some tests.
