I have a MegaflashROM SCC cartridge, but I can't run this 2 megabyte game. I can't run any Metal Gear 2 version that I have either. Any ideas?

MG2 should run on it, but as the normal MegaFlashROM SCC is only 512kB, it won't run a 2MB game.

Metal Gear 2 has a bug that causes the game not to boot when inserted in an expanded slot. This means that if you insert your original Metal Gear 2 cartridge in a slot expander it will not work.

MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD works like a slot expander with 4 different cartridges inserted, so you need to disable the subslots feature in order to configure the cartridge as flashROM cartridge only.
This is done using /U option. I.e.: OPFXSD MGEAR2.ROM /U
You can also load it from MultiMente pressing CTRL+RETURN (using the latest ROM disk)

Pointless Fighting works fine also. Just use the OPFXSD in the thread of the game or the one in the latest ROM disk.

The work continues. The cartridge is stable with many MSX computers, but there are some compatibility issues with older CF cards. Also there are some issues with a disk version of Metal Gear 2. Does anyone who owns a TDC floppy controller have the same issues like a corrupted loading screen and game freezing after showing titles and loading the "story"?

We already have the design with 512kb RAM, so this cartridge will be usable also for MSX1 computers. Today I was able to run DOS2 on my Yamaha YIS503II MSX1 from a CF card. I had to use a memory expansion cartridge as our first prototype does not have any RAM. Quite funny to use DOS2 on MSX1...

GOOD NEWS: we now got the stable firmware version. All CF cards that we were testing on several MSX machines worked without a problem. Moreover the cartridge works properly with CF-to-SD card adapters, so you can use SD cards with this cartridge too. Here's the picture of the new boards that have just arrived:

For those who buy this board I will provide the list of components, the ROM image and the latest Altera's firmware. The project is not public yet, but is already in pretty good shape. Please contact me if you are interested to buy the board. The boards costs 4 euros, shipment within EU is from 2 to 4 euros depending on the number of boards you need. At the moment 5 boards are available. Please note that I will not sell anything else than these boards.

We are now writing the software to work with the new multiflash cartridge. So far we are able to load ROMs and use this cartridge as SCC. It plays the SCC music quite close to the original. Still to do is to write the boot loader that will allow to select ROMs and disk images that are stored inside the 64mb flash chip. This is quite challenging and time consuming task.

Also from my own experience I can tell that assembling this cartridge was a hell of a job, literally, "hell". Soldering the big Altera chip took several hours, correcting the mess took 2 more hours. So if you are brave enough to do this, you need expert level soldering skills in order to do this painlessly. Otherwise you will spend many hours swearing and doing needle work.
