Where should we look for freeware ROMs then? Funet is rich of ROMs, but seems to lack in the copyright policy part; it's hard to tell whether or not a specific game is freeware or not. My big friend Google wouldn't help me either... :|

yup...kinda hard to tell. Are there any MSX software producers that specifically declared that their software turned freeware? I know there are plenty of examples like that for C64 and Amiga....

... but since we're talking MSX here, we need freeware MSX ROMs Smile

At least you can be sure everything on msx.org is freeware Smile.

Also, you could take a look at all the stuf in the 'public domain' directory of the MCCM CD.

I don't think there are many Dutch amateur 32kB MSX1 ROMs though; in the Netherlands, the amateur scene pretty much entirely used MSX2 computers. Also, diskettes were the medium of choice, usually, even ANMA's Nosh required an MSX1 with diskdrive. Makes kind of sense of course, because back then you didn't have fancy emulators or MegaRAM cartridges to run those ROMs (at least not in the Netherlands).

then there's the whole availability problem of the MCCM CD...I was lucky to take it over from someone a while ago. (hm. time to browse it I guess)

This is a little frustrating though. It's a perfectly fine utility that needs to be tested ..but it's so incredibly hard to find legal test material!

There are some, Samor.. But mostly cassette/disk software. No commercial ROM-cartridge games have been declared freeware as far as I know.
