Hey everyone,
I just received my Mega Flash ROM 512k + SCC, and I've been having a blast with it. I really want to give Shalom a try, but I don't want to be stuck without save-game functionality. There is a fix out there somewhere, in a file named SHALENG4.LZH, but every search just turns up the same links to a dead site. If anyone has this file saved somewhere please email it to me at conrad (DOT) russo (AT) gmail (DOT) com . Thanks a lot guys, and by the way, my hat goes off to Manuel for the excellent design of both the hardware and software of the Mega Flash ROM + SCC. Anyone who doesn't yet have one should go out right now and buy one. Between it and my Sunrise IDE interface, my A1ST upgraded to 512k is a very full featured machine. All I need now is a slot expander, a MoonSound, and a Video9k and I'll have just about the best MSX there it. Anyway, so if you come across that file send me a message. Thanks alot everyone!
Looking for Shalom English Beta 4 Save Game Fix (SHALENG4.LZH)
Is this a warez request?
Waite,
If I recall correctly shalom requires saving in 1 or 2 cases.
So does that mean the English version without this patch can not be finished ?? Anyone knows ?
A patch for a patch is not warez.
everything is warez.
I played it and saving worked fine... (you need to save once, indeed)
In the original translation, you can save to tape, or you can use the game password system. You can play the whole game, and even finish it without any problem.
And there is this patch TheRogue mentions, to save to disk, done by someone else. I unfortunately don't remember who, or where it is available
Have you tried the web archive to see if they have a copy of that site available?
I checked the waybackmachine already. The parent site is hosted there, but that file isn't because it was never linked to from the parent site, the guy just hosted it there and gave the link out on forums. So is there no one who has that patch kicking around?
Note that the game isn't fully translated. Especially at the end a lot of texts are missing. Quite disappointing for me, at least.
From what I remember I did in the English version, the only thing missing was the ending credits. The last release of the portuguese version was behind the English version, indeed.
Ricbit had plans to actually finish everything and shrink the game back to 256kb, but never did it

If you give us your permission to use your translated version, we can fit Shalom inside 256KB and translate ending credits as well.
Max
You should ask Ricardo Bittencourt (RicBit), as he coded the whole thing, I just did the portuguese->english translation...
