This is amazing work and really nice music! I especially appreciate that you have used MSX2 hardware to the fullest and no MSX2+ or better is needed. That leads to my question. Do you think that one of my favorite game Chuka Taisen could be improved with MSX2 hardware? Here's a gameplay example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCban2rJBis
And here's Master System version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKy9mnTxMvY
Or could that SMS scrolling be achieved with MSX2+ version of the game?
Thanks for this awesome feedback on the game!
Well, Chuka Taisen could benefit from some kind of hiding the edges, for sure (they even tried - you can see that they have a certain effort on the right hand side). If anyone were to retrofit this in, I guess a v9958 (MSX2+) would be needed.
For v9938 (MSX2) one could use the same technique as in Lilly's Saga. But Wolf is on to the main thing here, we are using some of the sprites (8 of them) for cover on the sides, and it is unlikely easy to retrofit this idea into a game engine architecture as we see here. The game seems to utilise quite a bunch of sprites already, probably using all 32 in some way, and with one sprite already taken on each side of the screen means only 6 visible pr line (making the rest invisible).
I believe that benefitting from using sprites to hide jerky borders requires a gameplay and level design crafted with the restriction in mind from the get go.
I'll write it here as well, so that as many of the existing users as possible can upgrade: Lilly's Saga just got a new patch/version available
Bugfixes and polish. Download this and replace your old ROM to get a better experience. TFH is already updated

Several polish and stability fixes included (see changes.txt), but worth mentioning is:
* a fix to fade-down on music which didn't always work correctly
* a fix for a potential race condition / freeze. No issues has been reported on this, but the problem was latent and had to be adressed.
Nice Thanks!
There are actually some funny sub-games you can do, possibly for youtube 'n such. Naturally you can TAS the game for speed. You can perhaps also try to get the most amount of points possible - this one is quite the sub-game. But another thing you can do is chase cannonballs! You see, once a cannonball gets shot, it'll remain on-screen until it's off-screen. So you can perfectly chase them for the fun of it. Would be fun to see who can keep a cannonball on-screen the longest.
Haha, never intended

Nice cover art! ;)
Very nice! When do you want to take my money?
I've found a bug on the second release / latest version of the game. If you pause during the first boss fight, boss sprites will get weird sometimes
Thanks For reporting! Will look into it.
