Good morning,
I wanted to build a joystick for my MSX2 NMS8280 with micro switch contacts and double fire buttons.
I still have since 1985 n. 2 joystik Albatros that always work very well, but unfortunately despite having 2 fire buttons, they do the same function, so it's like having a single fire!
I bought a joystick case, a lever with micro switch, two buttons and two cables with 9-pin connectors, as per MSX standard, in ebay.
I downloaded an image that I attach, the links functionality is displayed:
- Pin 1: joystick lever UP connection -> PIN 8 ground
- Pin 2: joystick lever connection DOWN -> PIN 8 ground
- Pin 3: LEFT joystick lever connection -> PIN 8 ground
- Pin 4: RIGHT joystick lever connection -> PIN 8 ground
- Pin 6: BUTTON 1 connection -> PIN 8 ground
- Pin 7: BUTTON 2 connection -> PIN 8 ground

For the auto fire function, is it sufficient to carry out a further parallel connection of button 1 between PIN 6 and PIN 8 with a switch that opens or closes the circuit?
Can you confirm that the connections are correct? Wink
Thanks

This is the same diagram! Pin 9 is generally not connected except for the auto fire.

Thanks,
from what is indicated, PIN 8 must be connected to the second connection of all the micro switches, both of the joystick lever and of the buttons n. 1 and n. 2.

Is pin 9 used for the auto fire ??
I thought we need to create an additional connection between PIN 6 and PIN 8 with a switch that closes the circuit to activate auto fire .. ??

To make an autofire, you need a chip powered by the pins 5V and GND.
