MP3 in Symbos using SE-ONE

Hey guys,

This evening, I tried the SE-ONE in a slotexpander, booting Symbos to play some MP3 files using symamp...

All I got was very distorted music. When I boot the MSX though, the SE-ONE booting sequence has crystal clear sound with all that blablabla about being able to enjoy digital sound on your msx computer et cetera.

Furthermore, I thought the SE-ONE also has output to the computer and not only line out? I only have sound through the line out...

What could be wrong here?

Strange. This should work. Is this only in a slot expander? But should not matter as it is I/O based. I have a SE-ONE which is running fine. Does this SE-ONE has FM radio as well and does that sound correctly? Does MP3 works with the sunrise original player? Yesterday i did a movie about my email client but there i was playing a MP3 as well using SE-ONE......
Yes the SE-ONE had sound on the pin as well.

What msx setup do you use exactly, including the type of slotexpander? (mk, Gouda, etc)

Btw. Se one always has radio included..

I tested it with several setups, turboR, 8245, with slotexpander, without.... Same issues..... Must be the se-one itself...

Strange. Can you try to (re)flash the cartridge with the lastest dfu file? See website tmtlogic for the latest version, and test of things are working correct again. Starting with a mass storage device and se-one in your primairy slots. Preferably your turbo-r. Despite it is tested with succes in several msx2 computers, i think to remember the b-slot of the 8245 sometimes caused some problems.

I suppose you obtained the catridge from Rinus(?), as he is the official distributor. If the problem still occurs, maybe you can contact him?

Is there something wrong with your slot expander do You have enough memory to play it in symbos
I never had problems with the se-one even with a slotexpander
Did You try the basic program to play the mp3’s

I was new to SymbOS and SE-ONE. I got my SE-ONE the same day I installed SymbOS and is was plug and play on my VG 8235 with modulon slot expander. Maybe there is a defect on your SE-ONE. You could try to install the latest firmware. If it doesn’t work you better contact TMTlogic.

I contacted Hans Tillema through Facebook, he is TMTlogic, right? No response yet. I will also send him an email this week

Latok, Hans is indeed the technical person behind TMTLogic but Rinus is doing the distribution, and (I suppose) also doing the aftersales, that's why i mentioned him in the first place.

Hopefully you'll get it fixed, either way.
