Yes, Kyokugen 2 refers to the second loop where dying enemies shoot you back and not a different game. And I emailed to the address in your profile page, did you receive it?
I have the photos of the Japanese original package and disks. They are in terrible state, I even scribbled on the package *_* but may suffice to be watched. I might delete these photos later.
3 Disks? my copy is 2 Disks only... oO
Don't worry, Disk 3 is NOT a part of the original Kyokugen. The game can be completed within 2 disks. Disk 3 was distributed some time after the initial release and just guides you to the walkthroughs.
Awww, stage 6 BGM is my favorite! Sad to hear it's not original. But it's still a fantastic soundtrack!

If you're interested in an original English copy of Kyokugen, you could try contacting Rinus Stoker of Totally Chaos / MSX World Wide as he originally distributed the (afaik) official English translation of Kyokugen in the Netherlands.
A couple of the M-Kai games are also in our Downloads Database: https://www.msx.org/news/software/en/m-kai-software-added-do...
The news post mentions a third bonus disk for Kyokugen, Sanriku King #0. Is this the same as the one you mentioned, Takamichi?
I was looking for Eschatos for the XBox 360, but it looks like it's not available from all XBLA stores? Found this one on the Hong Kong Xbox Marketplace but I'm not sure I can order it from there and play from my Norwegian account? There's also a physical Japanese release, but that one is definitely going for prices that are out of my budget.
I guess getting the Steam version is a safer bet, but I feel like my PC has too many distractions to sit back and enjoy playing a game in peace.
I personally did not find the Stage 6 music to be a "copy", I remember feeling "is this so similar?". A lot of elements in Kyokugen are homages, eg Minchotai bold fonts in Stage 8 are modeled after the Evangelion cutscenes but that doesn't make Gainax to be Kyokugen's original author To think of that the entire story is influenced from the Aum cult gas attack.
Figured I'd bump this thread with a link -- I was able to get my hands on a rip of the Kyokugen + Pleasure Hearts soundtrack CD, which contains every track from both games as well as 4 arranged tracks. As this CD is now out-of-print and unavailable (believe me, I've tried everything to get my hands on it!), I decided -- with permission from the person who sent me the rips -- to upload the whole thing to YouTube as 50 separate videos + a playlist.
I don't think I'm in violation of any rules on here by posting this, but if so, please let me know. And if anyone associated with M-KAI or Primitive Sound wants me to take these down, please let me know. I'm doing this largely for the sake of preservation, as this is too good a CD to be lost to the ages.
Anyway, enjoy! This is a really, really great soundtrack, and the four arranged tracks are fantastic.
And if anyone has a copy of this CD that they want to sell me, or trade for something, please let me know.

Good vid! I almost feel like playing Kyokugen and Pleasure Hearts Cute Miku must be feeling the same!
And I don't think anyone would claim copyright anymore. I heard Pleasure Hearts and the CD had issue with the distributor who claimed patent on them and M-kai ended up receiving none of the sales.
According to Aucfree the Yahoo auction sold listing site, the CD was sold twice past 1 year, so keep looking, Auction Alert is your friend :)
