great action and the pixel scroll!
and I think the colorsprites would look better in the lovely color combinations that the background already has

Yeah, graphics have to be totally redraw Wink but I can change easily colors so maybe I can use combinations you've suggested when I'll upload next stepup video Wink

I meant only the sprite colors, it would be interesting to see them in color ramps instead black color. for example color 8,6 instead 8,1.

Hello! From 31/08/2019 ti 02/09/2019 we'll have an event called Sassari Cosplay. There we'll have a retrogame stand plenty of old computers and consoles. This year, finally, we'll have a MSX station with a VG8020 and mine SD Mapper full of MSX ROMS... And a running/playable demo of Freedom Fighter, the same you have seen in this video (well, maybe I'll have some time to improve/add something before 30/08). I saw my game running on real hardware 2 days ago and I'm full of coding energy since Big smile

Well, this time I've added a mid level boss (maybe I have to set more hp to it, it's too easy when equipped with full weapon power). Now the code can handle an entire level (scrolling will speed up when mid level boss shows up). Added also a lot of new sprites and a piece of code that handle level change. But not fully implemented yet (I haven't graphics maps and you know, I have to implement music and/or sound fx too)

(I know there are some hidden bugs too, but I will find them...)

Or, delay some powerups so the player won't have full power before the boss appears Smile

Maybe some graphic artist could do something with those background tiles? What is your "tile budget", how many tiles can you "afford" before the game starts slowing down?

I agree on zPasi's idea to just delay powerups. Maybe having just 2 - 3 powerups spawn per level, so that it's hard to actually keep them without dying could make the boss more challenging!

Yep, Attack patterns and powerup freq are temporary and just to show game's feature. But just few hours ago I found (and fixed) two bugs. First bug let the enemies fire after their death (during the explosion animation). But after the fix of 2nd bug the game became more difficult. Bullets fired from enemies to the left/up from player were disappearing after a frame (I noticed It few hours ago). Now that bullets come from everywere I had to add a flag driven by a pseudo random number generator (and this allow me to change enemy fire ratio based on level...). A graphic artist will redraw the tiles (he added all new sprites. Well, most of them. Midlevel boss is mine creature and also my first enemy sprite, from old videos, had a weightloss diet LoL. He likes maim Sprite too so It will be the same as always). Actually I use 31 couple of tiles to generate scrolling effect. After music implementation I'll test (and stress) engine capabilities for adding more tiles...
