alexito, there are some issues:

  • Intro: while displaying the second image (soldier sheathing the knife) the sound is lost
  • Game: no helicopter nor tank MSX-Audio sounds (and maybe other MSX-Audio sounds can't be heard). Strange characters do appear when you use a continue (screenshot 1) and then the game hangs (screenshot 2)

I have run the game on OpenMSX using this configuration: Panasonic FS-A1FX + Philips NMS 1205 + ram512k. I am sure you will be able to reproduce them.

Other than that, excellent enhancement of the game!

@Ivan: Thanks for your report. I did not know the Phillips NMS-1205 on OpenMSX just have scarce 32KB SRAM for ADPCM Samples because I Prefer to choose AUDIO and AUDIO2 (remember to use Slotexpander also) those doesn't have the MUSIC MODULE BIOS ROMs (That mean you don't need to keep the ESC key pressed at boot) and 256KB * 2 for ADPCM SAMPLES are available.

anyway I have fixed a small bug on 2 disk version.

It would be a nice idea to include a readme.txt file providing the description of the enhancements and the system requirements to run the game. Just like FRS does with his patches :)

@Ivan: Thanks for the idea, but I'm not an organized person, my goal is simply to satisfy my curiosity about all the retro games, how they work and try without much effort to improve those precious games of yesterday.

With new AUDIOWAVE hardware I was able to double check the problem with my mod and for my surprise the results:

-Sony HB-F1XDJ + AUDIOWAVE(slot2) + ClassicPC 16MB(slot1) --> Get Froze after the first Intermission scene

-Sony HB-F1XDJ + AUDIOWAVE(slot2) + MMM 1024KB(slot1) --> Get Froze after the first Intermission scene

-Sony HB-F1XDJ + AUDIOWAVE(slot2) + Padial SDMMC Ver8 4MB(slot1) --> Works Great.

-Sony HB-F1XDJ + AUDIOWAVE(slot2) + MFP3072KB(slot1) --> Not even get start when it loading (flv opwolf.bin)

-Sony HB-F1XDJ + AUDIOWAVE(slot2) + Playsoniq(slot1) --> Works fine but after RESET never again. Curious thing was when It was removed from Cartridge Slot 1 Playsoniq's temperature was very HOT.

-Sony HB-F1XDJ + AUDIOWAVE(slot1) + Playsoniq(slot2) --> The Computer refuse to start the MSX logo stay in solid black.

Tested Successfully with OpenMSX0.15/BlueMSX 2.8.3

Thanks for try this very well known ZX SPECTRUM conversion
of OPERATION WOLF an ARCADE GAME from TAITO (C)1987 and Distributed
for Ocean in 1988.

This mod started in 2018 and throughout these years I have learned
more about game programming and game interaction with old and new
hardware.

What really amazes me is what the programmers accomplished in those days.

My main objective then is to satisfy my curiosity and I want to share
any interesting discoveries with you.

I want to thank the MSX community for testing my mods and a very special
greeting to Eugeny Brychkov for creating the GR8NET as this device never
