cax, I know, I was only responding to BodyHammeR. Maybe Lyra-2 needs a mapper and the MSX1 on which BodyHammeR tried did not have one. (Which is likely.)

Anyway, there are a lot of Dutch MSX demos which can probably be converted to tape, but no one ever did that (and loading times will be HUGE, as in 30 minutes or longer). So it will take some work at least.

side question for this thread: is there an archive/list/database for MSX demos?

next to the short list on F.n.t / pub/msx/demos/ and mep-mirror/demos/ and the 89 here on msx.org?

That's what MicroWAVer and compression tools are for.
As you know, a 128K ROM-splitted-to-bin-files game can be loaded via cas: port in less than 3-4 minutes. Loading them in a regular way takes 25-30 min, just as you mentioned.

@manuel - Can you please tell us which MSX1 models DO have a memory mapper (or how to install one)?

For MSX1 machines with mappers, check the MSX hardwarelist. One of them is the Yamaha CX-5M/128. Actually that is the only machine on the list with those features.

Cax, I did not know (anymore) that it could be loaded in only 3-4 minutes! That is incredibly fast. But it is still a lot of work to convert old demos to tape, if possible (some might need big changes...).

10x for the tip, but I still don't understand why we are talking about MSX1. This machine is a diskless MSX2.

cax - it is offtopic, because someone mentioned Lyra-2, which I think is supposed to be MSX1. Nothing to do with your original post. Tip was not for you, but for BodyHammeR.

So, if I understand it right, such a demo (for the specs I mentioned) does not exist at all ?
It's very hard to believe that all MSX demos are disk drive dependent !

The ROM versions of MSX Unleashed & Utopia doesn't need disk drive, you only need a Flash ROM cart to show them (I don't know if they could be converted to cas format; but I'm sure they would take ages to load :-P)
