I don´t mind the worth MSX items would have if I would sell them. If I were a true collector, I would´nt use my MSX equip.
If it´s for the money, I would have sold it already. I like my hardware and wouldn´t sell, except in case of emergency.
Why do you still uses original hardware and do not emulate? Or do you both?
Let me know, this is going to be an interesting topic...
@Hamlet: I use both. I enjoy my originals, and use them "normally" (not on regular basis). I don't have that collectors feaver that some have, that you put your originals in plastic or behind glass. And although the emulators now days are excellent, it can't beat the fealing I have using the real thing. I guess I have the same feeling most of the msx.org visitors have. We have grown up with msx! And although I enjoy playing modern games, I just can't abandon MSX. Every once in a while I just have the need of playing comic bakery or beat sd-snatcher for the 5th time
I think for me that is the difference. When I beat or completed a modern game, I almost never play it again, where some msx games I play over and over. I never get bored playing them again. Like I wrote, I can't explain, it's a feeling.
Totally agree with you, TheKid!
In fact, I'd even say it's more than a feeling.
I mentioned money because
a) I use that argument with my wife when she says I have too much junk;
b) life's circumstances change. For example, I bought one of my MSX computers from an elderly person who pretty much could not use it anymore. I personally have children and not yet sure they will have the same emotional attachment to MSX that I have.
My (ex) girlfriend once said, "Why don't you just use that cute little 1chipMSX thing all the time and get rid of the rest? It sure takes up less space than that big MSX2+ thing of yours!"
I still believe to have responded to that in the most mature and appropriate way possible.

Hahaha. My wife accepts my hobbies, because I accept hers, and her hobby is wayyyy more expensive than all my hobbies combined
I bet that freed up a lot of space?

Yeah, now I could even have my MFR and an extra joystick in my car to play Butaporc!
(and cheat at Midnight Brothers by using the cursors and joystick simultaneously for double running speed)

After so many years we could state that MSX is, somehow, in our blood. Just a simple SCC compositions to be delighted in. It's not a matter of quality sound or whatever, no one would understand. It's, in fact, pure music for our ears!
What is the msx world coming too? Has anyone checked ebay lately. Are msx games becoming so rarely ?
Returning to the original post, I have been wondering if anybody here actually buys MSX-related items at these prices. I would think most of the visitors are already well-stocked. So are the prices going up due to new collectors? Younger people?
