Thanks, I will give it a try.
Waiting for cash, then i can purchase one of these devices. The MFRSCC+SD does not seem to be getting new features added. Hopefully before the end of the year
Thanks, I will give it a try.
Works nicely! Thanks guys. I updated the code with this feature. I also updated the mapper and configuration symbols. Here's how the boot block will look like in the next release:
Hello Alexey & all users:
You are doing a great job with Carnivore 2. Thanks to you and also to all those who collaborate in this thread with their contributions. All users thank you!
My query is the following: When I connect the audio output of Carnivore 2 to a Hifi device, the audio obviously does not contain the PSG channels of the MSX. Could Carnivore 2 take out through audio jack: SCC, FM and PSG?
My question is: is it possible could hear the sound of all the channels of the MSX and Carnivore by the audio output of the jack?
Although I have noticed a time lag between the audio of the Carnivore jack and the MSX audio on the TV: The audio of the Carnivore jack sounds before the internal sound of the MSX on the TV, it is strange to listen to the MSX with 2 different times: One of the Carnivore SCC + FM via jack that always sounds before, and the other audio on the TV that sounds later and with lower volume.
Let's see if you can check it, thank you very much!
Unfortunately it's not possible to have the PSG from Carnivore's audio jack. If you want to mix Carnivore's audio with PSG from the computer and there's a delay between Carnivore's and computer's sound, it's possible to disconnect pin 49 on Carnivore's board to prevent it sending its audio into a computer. Then you can mix 2 separate outputs on the amplifier.
Time lag between the sound from the TV is the fault of the TV; the picture is digitally processed and enhanced, and this introduces latency, this can be 100 ms easily. Try setting the TV to “game mode” to minimise input lag, that should also affect the audio. This will also make games more responsive. Otherwise, take the audio directly from the MSX, before it goes into the television, there should be no delay then.
Some TV's have an (advanced) option to decrease audio lag. Sometimes hidden away in secret menus.
The audio should in any case be mixed before it goes to the device that plays it as it leaves the computer and the cartridge at the same time.
The repository has been updated with a fixed boot block and tools.
We will check whether it's still possible to squeeze the VHDL implementation of PSG into the current Altera chip on the Carnivore2 board. This is the only way to get PSG out of the cartridge's audio socket. Last time we checked Altera was 94% full. May not be enough resources for the PSG...
The new release is coming during this weekend. Some insights:
- English technical documentation
- English changelog
- Autostart skip option (3 second delay) in Boot Block
- Improved key assignments in Boot Block (see help screen)
- Boot Block version number is now visible in the Help screen
- Bugfixed C2RAMLDR utility, also a new feature has been added
- New utility to save/load the contents of FMPAC's emulated SRAM (savegames, etc.)
- More RCP files for tricky games
