It could use 1 addition though: how about adding the Sound Cartridge version of the music/sfx to it as well?

I've tried the 'light' version in blueMSX with a SCC(+) rom of the game (renamed as KMARE.ROM), but the loader KMG.COM does not seem to support SCC(+) as it hangs on a black screen. Maybe in a future version ?

That ROM version is not original, so it's pretty normal it doesn't work... for the original the appropriate sectors should be read from the original disk and preferably copied to the Sound Cartridge... the way the original works.

I guess the game runs some sort of checksum on the ROM image to be sure it's an original dump.

i dont quite get how it works.
You can download a com file, but how do you play it,,,'
in an msx emulator in dos ???

In an emulator, you can only run the 'light' version without the new digital musics. You need to create a DSK image with the following files : MSXDOS.SYS - COMMAND.COM - KMARE.ROM - KMG.COM.

KMARE.ROM is the name that you must use for the rom of the game.

Eventually, you can also use the MSX-DOS2 files (in stead of MSX-DOS1)

On the commandline, type KMG.

Hi,
SCC/SCC+ versions are not supported, but the support is planned ... I just don't know when. There is a lot of rework necessary: I can rewrite the entire patcher or I can rewrite Knightmare SCC itself. Unfortunatelly the code for both games are too different in many aspects (Knightmare SCC uses a lot of RAM I'm using in Gold Version, as an example of problem).
Of course it's possible, but it'll require Memory Mapper and MegaRAM for sure. Simply there is no space to load all code in 64K of RAM. I left the 16K for SCC base routines and Data (to use 64K MSX1 SCC version Adriano Cunha made), but there was no place some of the additional SCC konami routines.
I asked Adriano Cunha to look Knightmare SCC code and adapt it to help me, but he had no time, as I just do not have time anymore. Sad
I hope somewhere in the future I can work in this add-on.
BTW, the SCC support would not change almost nothing when playing CD version of audio, since CD replaces all musics and SCC only is used for musics (not sound effects). The only thing would be played by SCC when using CD audio is the "P" power up theme. This is the main reason I decided to work hard on other game parts and left SCC work as something to be done in the future. Smile

I hope you all enjoy the result!

PS: The game runs with CD Audio on modified MSX1 machines (with memory mapper + IDE/DOS2 + CDROM). This was tested on two different MSX1 computers in Brazil and it worked just as expected).
