Putting a "Kanji is not necessary" option was wrong.

Japanese version will need it. Besides that I agree with most of the replies people put on their answers ...

However... People seem to be answering without knowing well what is the OPNA for example.

OPNA wipes the floor with any of the OPL family chips, even OPL3. (OPL4 has wave can't really compare)
And OPNA has a whole OPN chip inside (OPNA is backwards compatible to OPN like newer OPL series are for older OPL chips) so putting YM2203 and YM2608 on the list at same time is almost like putting the same option twice.

In fact, a lot of Japanese MSX2 did not have Kanji ROM.
Therefore, almost software (mass product) except business use such like as word processor, did not need Kanji ROM.

There is some user who NEVER NEEDS extend feature of OPNA.
I don't sure why they don't need it, but maybe religiously reason Tongue

Well, a OPNA chip could be added as a cartridge, no problem, really. Wink

Anyway starting a survey like this would be a must before a new MSX project, do something without the opinion-needs from community is a nonsense...

We need an international online petition to ask msx-lc to build a new msx ????
10.000 subscribers would be enough? ????

Incorporating all requests will cause stuck of the projectSmile
We need to prioritize and sift the features, based on the first survey.

I will share the analysis of first survey later.

In order for any project to become a reality, it must have a demand, and an affordable price so it can be accessible to anyone, and perhaps give the possibility to customize it at will, with the unavoidable price increase, but the project base should be quite unexpensive in order to be standardized.
A fully standard msx2+ with some improvements such as a faster optional CPU and a GPX9000 is ideal for a base, and other options could be customizable.
Having this in mind, any capable hardware geek could ask/calculate the cost production of –let’s say- 100 units for example, and start a crowdfunding campaign on kickstarter or similar.
There are similar projects which have been successfully funded this way and became a reality.
Just an idea…

I believe for Crowd-funding like Kick-starter to be viable you must have a Fully working prototype as proof of Concept. Without a working prototype then a kick-starter project is not viable and the kick-starter site would cancel it! What really needs doing is a full feasibility study with costing to make a handful of prototype units?

An example of how to go about this (from a hobby point of view) is to look at the Memotech MTX+ project. This project has been done by two hobbyists/enthusiast designing a NEW Memotech MTX in their spare time. Based on similar specifications to any MSX + system might be.

Yes, you are right about Kickstarter, But there are more flexible crowdfunding platforms such as Indiegogo.
Anyway you are right about the fact that a working prototype is needed in order to realistically calculate how much the real machine would be.
But a way to reduce costs is to “mass produce” it and in order to do so, you need the guarantee that you will sell enough units to cover the costs.
Here is when a crowdfunding platform can help, after a working prototype has been developed. It could lower the final cost per unit by assuring enough purchases and then you can “mass produce it” without risks.

Nice project by the way.
I hope the MTX+ reaches completion someday!

Buy some low cost x86 computer and install a full emulation layer so that you don't have to see any Windoze logos popping now and there. Building it on top of Linux would be a better (and free!) option. The only requirement would be to set the proper emulated requirements. And I would love it to be packed in a really small form, just like this one. And a 4-core computer with 2 GB should do it :D

But I know: this is pure heresy.
