Question: What Midi tool can be used with MSX turbo R GT

Dear All,
As far I know, Roland SC-88PRO SC88 is the most common MIDI tool to be used with MSX computers and turbo R models in particular.

My questions here, in order to have a very high quality sound in MSX turbo R GT:

1- Is there any tool that I can use instead of Roland? (I preferred Panasonic)

2- Can I use Panasonic AG-MX70 AV Mixer Switcher NTSC PAL MX-70 MX70P? Alone or with Roland SC?

What do you want to use the equipment and your MSX for? That will determine the suitable answer.

You are right ..... Let me make it clear, if I plug the Philips Music Module & Keyboard in the MSX TR-GT, can I use the mixer and switcher?

Still not clear enough: which software do you want to run on the turboR, why are you involving the Music Module? What do you want to do with the setup? What do you want to use the mixer and switcher for?

That Roland device is a MIDI controlled music box. Nothing more, nothing less... Which model of Panasonic would you have prevered? Panasonic didn't make them, so you probably think that Roland SC88 is something else than you expect.

You can connect the SC88 to your Panasonic FS-A1GT's MIDI out or insert a Philips music module and use the MIDI out of that cartridge (they do the same but are not compatible). Now you can send MIDI data from your Panasonic FS-A1GT to the Roland SC88...

You can connect the video output of the Panasonic FS-A1GT to the Panasonic AG-MX70 and the Roland SC88 to the audio input of the Panasonic AG-MX70 to combine audio and video...

Neither Panasonic nor Roland wrote tools for this situation...

Midi is not the one-in-all solution to get better sound out of your MSX. First and foremost: the software needs to support it. There is very little software on MSX, which makes good use of the Roland SC88. That being said, Worp3 (www.worp3.com) has a cartridge which replaces to FM-PAC, and convert the music to MIDI. You can get nice results with that, but you need to do some legwork yourself.

When using the MIDI-PAC you have to manually do a setup since most synthesizers have quite a different sound. Playing MID files is mostly a waste of time. Not doing a setup on MIDI-PAC results in somewhat the same; most music will sound weird to horrible here and there while other parts sound good to very good... Having setup the MIDI-PAC doesn't guarentee that everything will sound great from there off...
I use MIDI to make MP3s... That way I can ensure that the listener hears what I intend him to hear...
