Hi everyone!

I have a problem with my drive. First of all I am a newbie in the MSX world but some years ago I bought a MMC/SD drive Yeongman SEO v3.10 that I haven`t used very much. I have a MSX2 Sony HB-F700S and I was trying to get some profit of the drive so yesterday I tried to load some disks images in the SD card without success. Surfing through internet I found the manual but it used the Disk Manager v3.00 while I the only version I had in the drive was v2.00, so I was unable to make it work.

Usuario_msx2 has been trying to help me and today has sent me the BIOS zip file with the mm3disk3.rom in order to update the drive BIOS but when I was trying to use flashman.exe it hasn't worked because it said that I had to update BIOS to v4 first. Then I have tried to use ATLOAD.COM, loading MMCDISK3.ROM in slot 1. It seemed to work but when it booted up again it appears again on screen version v3.10, so I presume it did'nt work either.

Lastly I have tried to load the Metal Gear rom in slot 5 with ATLOAD and although it seemed to work and you could see Downloading........ on the screen, after some minutes I have turned off the computer because I tought it had hanged out. Well, now the drive doesn't load at all and resets again and again after the MSX logo appears on the screen.

Is there any possibility to make it work again? Can it be reset to default values or something like that?

Best regards

The latest Disk-ROM version for the MMC/SD interface seems to be the v4.04.

MSX-DOS2 user:

MMCDISK3.ROM is for the MMC/SD Drive HW v2.2 interface (2 slots) otherwise use MMCDISK2.ROM. (The manual says this kernels doesn't work on MSX1!)

MSX-DOS1 user:

MMCDISK1.ROM can be used on all MMC/SD Drive HW version but only one SD slot is usable.

Manual: http://pds15.egloos.com/pds/200910/19/40/MMCSD_Drive_Manual_...

The latest version of ATLOAD.COM is included into the archive of the kernel v4.01:

Thank you very much, gdx!

I have just solved it! Usuario_msx2 gave me yesterday the answer. Booting the MSX2 with a MSXDOS disk and the ATLOAD.COM and MMCDISK3.ROM I could update the BIOS and now it has the v4 version and works perfectly. Thank you very much for your concern.

Best regards

The latest version of ATLOAD.COM seems to be renamed FLASHMAN.COM.
