@foody
If msx 3 a real computer how come no one recommended as main max instead of msx 1 or 2, etc? Where can I get msx 3??!!
Actually, it will be a real computer, when the boys get it ready. Maybe a prototype exists somewhere. So you can get anywhere yet, unless you'll build it yourself...
And I guess "MSX 3" is not an official standard, like MSX, MSX2, MSX2+ and TurboR are / were.
It is a real computer (not an emulator).
We will show the prototype soon (as possible)...
Produce a whole computer from scratch demands a lot of work and time...
I love the gfx9000 and opl4 .. As specs !
The only thing I reeeeallly want and wish they do I s that all hardware expansions for the classical MSX systems and the new one be done via the cartridge slot. Or at least give an alternative choice for people who wish to use the cartridge slot to do hardware upgrades such as:
1) Upgrade their video card
2) Upgrade their sound card
3) Give expansion upgrades such as external HD, Disk Drive, CD-ROM,
etc, etc, etc.
That would be super...super...duper...cool. By the way this is a curious question, when the new MSX 3 system come out...is it now equally dangerous to remove cartridge or install cartridge while the system on? Would it still kill the computer or cartridge itself if done on the new MSX 3 computer?
@foody What you say can already be done. There are existing expansion cartridges for v9990 (Graphics9000), OPL4 (MoonSound, Shockwave, etc.), IDE / SD interface and memory expansions. Changing the CPU however can not be done via a cartridge. Though many MSX computers have upgraded their CPU to 7.14 MHz, to get beyond that you really need a new motherboard.
So please do not worry about existing MSX systems being left behind, this project is a great addition to those existing capabilities.

Perfect!
After looking at the MSX Rio pictures, I now realise that the OPL4 Shockwave and V9990 PowerGraph were both made by Tecnobytes .
Yeah, I guess these guys are reliable for a new hardware-based MSX. I need it badly!
I am just curious....for the new MSX computer does the same rule applies like the original classic ones? If you remove cartridge while it is ON or insert it while it is ON it is damaging?
Good news!! I received the MSX computer and I love it!! Now what is left is to buy that cartridge where I can store all my MSX ROMs in it...the basic is BASIC 1.0 and it have blue borders and purple background in the middle...it is super cute and 100% console more than a computer, heheheh!! I am all giddy
Picture ?
