Hello,
What's the technology used in those joysticks ?
Micro-switches or contacts ?
Thanks.
Hi
Thanks for the enquiry
It is actually potentiometers - which is how they get their soft feel.
They are not analogue - they still only do four directions and two fire actions.
The potentiometers allow for excellent reliability as microswitches or any other leaf/button arrangements are more prone to wear and failure.
I hope this answers your questions
The following vendor (you?) says that the joystick is compatible with MSX / Atari / Spectrum / Amiga / Amstrad / Commodore but it is not the cas without adapter. The joystick can even cause a short circuit on most machines.

Only the MSX supports this joystick.
Firstly - This is an MSX forum so the joystick is fully compatible for you guys.
So, within this forum it's a mute point.
However, you are correct that in its standard configuration - pressing the base fire button on a non msx system could crash a NON MSX system.
To ensure that the joystick IS COMPATIBLE with NON MSX systems I perform a wiring modification prior to shipping.
If you read the body of the advert it states (and I quote);
"IMPORTANT
Please let me know what system you will be using the joystick on (i.e. MSX, CBM64, CPC464...)
I will then ensure that you get the correct button configuration.
Please put this information in the PayPal message box
If you use an un-modified unit on a non-MSX system....
...Pressing the base fire button will send 5 volts up the wrong pin and will CRASH your system
Trust me.. I know"
There are others sellers of this is unit - quoting compatibility with non MSX systems that do not offer this service' which I also state in the advert:
"BONUS - This service is not offered by other sellers - BONUS)"
If I did not offer this modification then I am sure I would have not achieved my 200 POSITIVE feedback
But as stated earlier in thus post - the modification is only performed on NON MSX systems so it this forum this isn't really relevant.
I hope this clears this up.
Thanks

This is the short circuit caused by the MSX button 2.
Yes, that's correct. That's why I offer the modification for NON MSX system which prevents this.
Sorry, am I missing your point here?
The title is misleading but it's a good deal for people that like this type of joystick.
Original MSX Joysticks still available.
