what is the meaning to read port $A2, the values are even used later in the code ?

Any suggestions why to do that?, its not for read Joystick or so, its sound.

This is the way how you read back register values from PSG... This could be useful ie. when you play a sound effect and you want to return the values back for music player after the effect has been played.
