It is easy to say "make the mapper optional" or "make two versions of the hard", and indeed it would be nice... but think that all of this is, all in all, an amateur project. We will be able to produce it with professional quality due to a bunch of lucky circumstances, but in no way we own a factory nor can release a complete family of products; we are just a gang of freakies just like all of you are. So it is not probable that we can have a "Dumas catalog 2006/2007", only one version will be produced and this is already a big goal.

only one version will be produced and this is already a big goal.

And that's enough!

Leaving it optional makes it than less quality or making it a factory. Come on. Besides what are those lucky circumstances?

It is not big deal for the mapper.
Dont softwares can take advantage of two mappers , it is just a matter of software.
Anyway if this dumas cartridge is ever available I will buy it.
1- because I want to connect my MSX to my ethernet router : I am sure I will be using much more my
MSX than before with this connexion.
2- To support a huge effort of MSX hardware development.
3- I have a big mapper as separate cartridge and it is not always an advantage.

When is a big mapper not an advantage?

standalone mapper is not an advantage when you want to plug moonsound+gfx9000+mapper
and you have only 2 slots.
For that reason I bought a hb700 to replace my vg8235 (which was upgraded with v9958)

In that case a slotexpander is welcome ofcourse ! Mappers are even rare , but I was referring to integrate more for cheaper and saving place

Dumas sounds great as is. I would certainly buy one. 512 Kb is like a bonus. In my comp of preference not of real use but on one of the others an added blessing. If a fourth musketeer would pop up it'd be just icing on the cake.

Well, if only one version is possible, I believe its better to have mapper, because it will work with any MSX. I have a MSX1, a DDX MSX2 without mapper and a MSX2+ CIEL with mapper, so it would be great to be able to use this device with any of my machines. Smile
