IDE BIOS v2.50 released

After almost 8 years, Jon de Schrijder, the creator of the BIOS for the Sunrice IDE/Compact Flash interfaces released an update for this BIOS. In our forums, people mentioned problems with their IDE/CF interfaces when using FAT16 partitions for a while now, and this has finally been solved. Most notably the update fixes an issue in the DISKIO routine that only occured when using FAT16 and accessing a sector past 65535 in a partition. The updated BIOS can be downloaded from our downloads database.

Infos for blueMSX users :

- rename IDE250.DAT as SUNRISEIDE.ROM and put it in Machines/Shared Roms sub-directory (it will replace the previous version)

- if you use the Ciel Expert 3 IDE machine , keep at the moment the IDE240a.ROM in the sub-directory for this Brazilian machine and wait for an adapted version of IDE250 ( when IDE250a.ROM will be available, a small change will also be required in the config.ini file)

If this is a bug fix, wouldn't it be better to contact Jon about it, so he can take it along in the next revision of the official firmware?

I barely can believe! After all those years! Thank you so much! Big smile

This 2.50 BIOS boots fine with my 2GB CF cart (1 FAT12 + 1 FAT16 partitions), but when I try to boot it using a 2GB SD card connected to a SD to CF adapter, it throws me the weird error "NO ENOUGH MEMORY" and freezes the MSX (FS-A1ST, 512KB RAM).

This 2GB SD card has a single FAT16 partition and boots fine both on my LPE-MMC-V8 and on my OCM. Is that error expected on this new BIOS for the IDE interface? On the previous versions it also didn't booted, but I was guessing that it was because of a bug on that version of the BIOS.

I've both my ATA-IDE+RS232C and CF ATA-IDE , they both work fine since the update ...
If I had a wish to make is that the next version of the BIOS and IDEFDISK allow to have more than four 2GB partition , actually ten would be perfect the could allow me to have all my msx software onto my msx Big smile Big smile Big smile Big smile Big smile

i thought msx could only boot from fat12?

Well, both the LPE-MMC and the MegaSD can boot FAT16 partitions just fine. Smile

Found a bug. Don't know if Jon reads this. He's not responding on e-mail.
Commands FORMAT (for FDD) and RAMDISK don't work in MSXDOS2 (gives "Invalid MSX-DOS call" error)
