Ah, Athletic Land can be finished after all :D
134 minutes ... you are a man with so much patience B-)
For me, 10 stages are enough :

That was a very extensive and moving end-demo. It really ties all loose ends to the epic Athletic Land story together. A masterpiece...

It was not a nonstop run. I paused the game quite often to do something else... It was a two day ordeal though
I can imagine that ..... it took me more than 2 days for shorter videos, as I combined that with other activities.
Finally, thanks to your great courage, we know the end !
Thanks to Firefox extensions and VLC, I've jumped almost directly to this screen :
You could be right with Eindeloos considering the game's name. Never played it myself though...
Eindeloos does have an end. Vampier posted a speedrun which reaches the end in 8 minutes. By the way, here's an interview with the programmer, John Vanderaart. It focuses on his C64 career, but also contains some things on Radarsoft and Cees Kramer. I just remember once buying the book he wrote on programming the MSX in machine code.
Gauntlet is an infinite loop game as well. I discovered it as a kid, when the tape finished (each stage was loaded from tape), then I just rewinded it and the game continued loading stages normally...
Hey, that's a nice, comprehensive review, mars2000you. :)
We talked about Athetic Land ending about 8 years ago!
