actually I like the gfx of those robots in battle-mode.. they really shouldn't be left out. A good balancing between looking at nice gfx and a gameplay with a fluid progression is required. I'm extremely annoyed when I have to decompose some harmless poor robots just to gain some power and cash.. ^_^

Diablo2 on PC is well done in that aspect, it's so big.. by the time you actually crossed the land you gained enough experience to fight the 'end-bosses' there..

The way I see it, an RPG should be made in such a way, that getting from one area to the next should give you all the gold and exp you need. In SD-Snatcher there's a number of points where you have to wander around aimlessly just to gain enough gold and/or experience to be able to continue. Ideally, you'll want to avoid such situations, even if it makes the game last a little less than 60 hours...

t00b: I think the game will be a little too easy then... SD-Snatcher has imho a perfectly balanced gameplay... Life gets a lot easier when you beat all in warehouse no1 thrice over ^_^

I once spent a day levelling up in the south city part.
Very funny when you are in the cave after that (you know, with the normally difficult enemies with lots of gold), big money Wink

Here we go again:

... The lack of graphics artists ...

And this opinion is based on what??

Everybody seems to know how to program and how to make music and ofcourse there are plenty of story writers! ( well... story-tellers are there enough idd Wink ) But there is nobody who can draw!

I just don't know...

What happend to these guys? (if... they ever excisted)

I fully agree with Robertwilting who said:
So why not first check if there's actually people who have that quality and time.
Maybe time for a competition ??

Nobody but Konami (including Kojima) should create a sequel to SD-Snatcher. Nobody but the original designers will be able to create a game with the same feel as SD-Snatcher. It somehow doesn't feel right either, even when a great storyline and great graphics would be drawn.

What one could consider, however, is porting existing sequels to MSX games to MSX, e.g. Ys 4 and Xak 3 could be done pretty well if you ask me Smile.

A game with the same feel, cyberpunk, blade runner etc. etc. is doable. No need to be a Konami to do that. In the end it's all Syd Mead style Smile (Blade Runner, Aliens)

anyway, does it have to be an SDS or MG anyways?
Maybe if you go one level lower, there'd happen to be plenty of gfx artists all of a sudden =P

I think a competition would be a nice idea...

^^ Votes for a MSX2 version of Metal Gear Solid 1... It's doable (just keep it 2D)
