Just like I saw in a few topics around here a lot of people think it's NOT possible to create a part II of an existing Konami MSX game. I think Norakomi is doing a great job so far (yes, I had the honour to see more then only some screenshots Wink ) with his Space Manbow II!!

I think there are a lot of people who would like to see new games like a Solid Snake II or a SD Snatcher II. There are a lot of people talking about that subject, but all I hear is a lot of bla bla!

(for those smart asses out there who will say: Why don't you do it yourself?? > Simple, I got NO programming skills, but I would love to work on a project like these!)

According to some stuff I've read on MRC the some of the greatest obstacles are:

No (good) people who can make descent graphics, no (good) programmers, but most of all: lack of time!

But is this all true?? What I mean is: there is still a lot of talent in the MSX community, but it seems that nobody is trying to do his best to combine forces and make something like a new game.

For myself: I got plenty Ideas for (to my opinion) nice MSX games, I think I can make the graphics for them but I miss the programming skills... So there's where the road ends for me!

Still I think it's a matter of: the right people at the right spot at the right time!

And what about a story-line? This is a great part for a game mentioned here before Like a friend of mine told me once: 'it's more than just take a book and 'copy' that! and I think he was right! I never hear somebody about this subject.

What do you think about this all?

If you read the thread, you would've read I'd start programming SD-Snatcher II today, *if* there were proper graphics. And that's the only thing keeping us (the scene) from making Konami sequels. While Space Manbow II would be very difficult to make, a game like SD-Snatcher could be coded in less than three months... But, where do you find the graphics? Story line is not that big of a problem, nor is finding a director or making music... (we have Wolf ^_^) The only *real* problem is finding good graphicians...

If we're fast we can still make Bussum ^_^

Hehe Your Joking i presume you can make indeed a sd snatcher like game in 3 months.........
but that time is just to short to make a sequel i would say write a good script 1st (STORYLINE,GFX ART AND DESIGN MUSIC'S)

or else you have a crappy game

t00b's gotta be kiddin'. no really. whot, you got like 24/7 spare time?
I think such is posible. But not without proper coordination. (in wolf's terms "project manager", but there should also be a programmer's coordinator)
gotta 'ave a good and solid foundation to program on (midas ?) for example

but it's doable, no doubt. how about pippols II ?

Allow me to snip a minimal quote from your plea:
most of all: lack of time!

But is this all true??
Unfortunately: yup Sad

Really, if I had all the time in the world I would spend a large part of it pixeling and moonblastering and programming on/at/for my MSX. But helas, stuff like work, housekeeping, and other obligations get in the way and do have higher priority.

/me votes for a 48 hour day Wink

To be honest, I always thought MSX was about creativity. Sequels and remakes don't fit in the equation for that matter. It's much more fun to play a new, original game. I don't see a point in SD Snatcher II, we've played it, it's time for a new story. Although Space Manbow II looks very promising, IMHO the game should be less Space Manbow and more Sparkling-new-Shoot'm-up-with-a-different-name.

I'm just wondering - isn't it just nicer to create your own, original game?

As for graphics; would have said artist have to have specific MSX sprite knowlegde, or would just providing gfx work?
