on the other hand... why WIOS is not popular, ideed nobody uses that untill i know ? why? apart of the "for gfx9000 only" issue.
the other issue is that it's written in C, so it's DAMN SLOW!!
Even on turboR it's a bit sluggish...
so, MNBIOS is the first one in assembler? doing as priority the speed?
after Midas (f-kernel) it prolly is yeah...
(although Philips and Sony realeased some os thingy before.. more like a GUI that is)
MidaS? i never reads about that
what is?
ro, please stop pretending you wrote something that could be compared to MNBIOS!
Midas is nothing more than an operating environment. AFAIK it's based on BDOS and probably relies on some BIOS variables as well...
Note that I'm not saying Midas sucks or anything, it's just that it cannot be compared to the likes of UZIX and MNBIOS...
True, Midas is more a programmers OS (it doesn't really have a GUI for example). However, it IS a real Operating System. And yes, it makes use of bdos1/2.x. (no need to rewrite stuff that's already good) The rest is all custom code. It has everything an OS need; MMU, DRS, slothandling, interrupt handlers, music replay services, TSR. . etc.
so, yeah MIDAS is an O.S. and it was build in the early nineties, completely assembly ofcourse! the whole Sunrise Magazine series run on it, so do the Umax games (and ofcourse the fuzz stuff) I'm not sure to compare it with the mentioned O.S. types. Well it don't have a GUI, so for the most ppl it isn't interesting (again; itsa programmers os, so far) (although, it HAS a little command console.. hmmmmzzz)
@fly: you should have read the signs man. I've pointed out this o.s. a few times before, quess you just refused to listen
@guyver; jalious?
@guyver; jalious?
There's nothing to be jealous about...
hence the smilies
TSR program?
so, midas is mono-process?
