I guess Sonic is more used to the large scale hobbyist projects of the 90's.
These 8kB games can't compare against multi-disk RPG's, or full-featured shoot'em-ups. Likewise, the (mostly BASIC) demos of the MRC Challenges can't compare to the megademos like Unknown Reality, Metal Limit, etc...
True but you've also got to admit that most of those mega-projects, involving many people for a long time, are usually dropped before the end.
Personally I'd rather see many small & medium size games/demos of very good quality (Knightmare was only 32kb afterall) than huge projects that probly will end up being either a one level demo (hello Mkid, Total Parody, X-Tazy,...) or nice GFX / music with no code behind.
It doesn't always take huge games to get something fun, playability is the key.
Euhm Sonic, as you can see in the case of Guru Logic, sometimes the original developers do care quite a lot, actually. I still think that you can better be safe than sorry, if possible.
Well, Guru Logic cared because:
a) They had recently released the same game for GBA.
b) They were considering a licensed release for MSX.
It's a completely different situation. I've many times given the example of making, for instance, a Metal Gear port/remake right now. This would not be a clever thing because the game (series) is being actively released/sold.
So, unless there's some upcoming Mopi Ranger release for the PS2 I don't know about, I guess we can safely assume that no harm will be done
Of course this by no means should be taken as legal advice I'm just saying that I *personally* think that no-one would give a rat's ass... Ofcourse, who am I? But hey, I guess I'd better shut up before I'm charged with conspiracy or cohersion

What makes you think Konami isn't considering an emulation pack with Mopi Ranger for PC? They made one for PSX and Saturn, so it's very possible. Especially with the Microsoft cross-licensing deal!
Konami is welcome to contact me then and use my version for their emulation pack
Saves them the troubles for Mopi Ranger
I just love that word...CRAP ..
so euh, mopi ranger? I loved the game like 15 years ago. .now, as sonic so elegantly stated, no one gives a crap. But it's YOUR project, and a good learning thingie. So amaze us with your mopi revival.
if you're still serious about 'trying' to code an RPG there are plenty GFX artitst who would help you.. but first show us an example of your current development then.
