This utility is an enhanced version of the Joymega Test Utility by Sergio Guerrero Miralles, being Acid1Test & Acid2Test compliant. It tests joysticks/joypads connected to your MSX and auto-detects its type. The following controllers are supported:

  • MSX joystick/joypad with 2 buttons
  • Megadrive joypad with 3 buttons + start
  • Megadrive joypad with 6 buttons + start + mode
  • "keyjoystick": Your MSX keyboard arrows + SPACE + GRAPH

Someone could please test if the detection works fine on an original 6-button joypad when the buttons B+Z are pressed simultaneously?

You need an unmodded MegaDrive controller connected to the very simple JoyMega adapter.

The main problem is that there´s no way to autodetect this mod, and JoyTest is based on the same library I use for games (in fact, it was created as a sample code).

I plan to release those libraries on the end of the year, so any programmer can use it.

excuse me MSX VG 8020 uses two integrated to control the two joystick ports
