How on earth can you compare 2 different games? Afaik they have a complete different story and gameplay. Iirc the nes is based on a movie and the msx version is called '2' for copyright reasons.

Maybe I can find out on MSX cafe. But my french is a bit rusty.

Of course, but most msx fans don't know the existence of the famicom version.
It' s little review of the 2 versions. I agree the only common thing is the name "king kong 2", release date and developper "Konami".

So indeed it isn't a comparison; but a double review. Anyhow, I would like to see real game comparisons between NES & MSX (is there a MSX version better than the NES one?, maybe MSX2?)

Small note on Famicom Konami VRC VI and VRC VII chipsets. The site claims (according to Babelfish anyway ;p ) that these chips improve the graphics too, though actually they just make handling graphics easier, in no different way than many other mapper chips. Maybe Konami were just very good at making graphics from MSX experience eh Wink
It's probably also worth noting that these chips were used in a very little amount of games:

VRC VI:
- Akumajou Densetsu (Castlevania III),
- Esper Dream 2 - Aratanaru Tatakai,
- Mouryou Senki Madara

VRC VII:
Lagrange Point,
Tiny Toon Adventures 2 - Montana Land e Youkoso (not using the add-on sound)

Vrc6 et Vrc7 were use in japaness famicom "only" due to cartridge slot.
Vrc improve sound with fm synthésis, and the mapper from Video Resource Chip, can be give possible greatest graphics at end.Hannibal

What do you mean with "greatest graphics"? it doesn't say that on Wikipedia. CHR (graphics) bankswitching and IRQ counters are very common features on Famicom mapper chips. Smile

see difference beetween castlevania 3 jap and us at this link:
http://castlevania.classicgaming.gamespy.com/Games/cv3foreign.html

".......The Japanese version of this game included slightly improved graphics in some places, and immensely better music (using lots of digitized instrument samples.) While the American version used the very advanced MMC5, it was still not as powerful as the Konami one, and thus things were altered...."

erm Tongue
I think the changes were made because Nintendo of America didn't approve of the original contents, and in some cases (eg. the parallax scrolling in the intro) due to laziness of the porters. Not counting sound, the MMC5 is actually much more powerful than the VRC6. In fact, it's probably the most powerful mapper chip for the Famicom/NES: http://nesdevwiki.ath.cx/wiki/index.php/MMC5

Maybe, i'm not a famicom fan (i love konami games concept and their unique gameplay).
In any case we profited of Sound Chip Custom for our MSX, more than Famicom fan's for the vcr6. Tongue

SCC's nice, indeed. Allthough not related to KK2, I always hear that technically the SCC is simple. Might be and all that, but I find its sound very characteristic and really nice on the ears. Sadly I don't have an original SD Snatcher or Snatcher with SCC+, I'd like to be able to properly hear the differences between the regular SCC and the SCC+....

The english is very bad so I personaly think this is genuine.

looks legit... would love to have the cartridge, but knowing the rarity and this community, it'd cost a fortune Tongue
