I don't need zillions of slots, just like 4 orso.

I just want to plug it in one of my cart-slots and it should run.

A moonsound, a future GFX9000 and possibly some RAM should all work with it. Optionally (I don't really care if it doesn't work) an FM-Pac, SCC and MusMod should work Smile

The easiest way is build it yourself I think (unless you can find someone that can build it for you).
I remember that there was a tutorial somewhere on the web or maybe in one of the Dutch MSX Magazine issues on how to do it.

Cheapest way? Well...

For the RAM, moonsound, scc, fm-pac and MusMod use an emulator and for the GFX9000 use your MSX with 2 slots and you still have 1 spare!

Well D-fader, suppose I want (1) opl4 (2) gfx9000 and (3) CF reader in 1 real msx, then I've a problem. And additionally, when I want to insert a memory mapper then I really have a problem. (I'm talking about a real msx here, not an emu Smile )

Opl4/gfx9k/cf/ram requires 4 slots! And esp. these 4 carts (minus perhaps the RAM if you got plenty of it internally) are sortof the elements of the possible next-gen msx games/productions.

So, again, what's the cheapest -LEGAL- way to get a slotexpander, or does anyone want to sell a good-working model (@ Tilburg or something) ?

If you want a new one, contact Hans Oranje: www.hansoranje.demon.nl
His expander has 6 slots, 2 I/O and 4 expanded slots. I hav one myself and it works great. I think it's the best expander ever made for MSX... (Can I get my money back now, Hans?) I think it costs around 130 euros at the moment.

If you want a second hand expander, you are a lucky man because I have one for sale. It's a MK Expander Version 3.0. In good state. And cheaper then a new one...

Any ideas about a reasonable price?

ps. is any MRC mod reading this ? Why not publish a list somewhere at this place with reasonable 2nd hand prices for msx hardware (computers and expansions)? Some keyboard/synth magazines do this for music equipment, and some internet sites as well. (see: www.vintagesynth.com .. click some brand at the left, click a model, and beneath you see the current estimated price..)

This list can be 'generated' by having users to specify what they paid for their 2nd hand stuff. You only need to make a database and some viewing-page :) (ok ok I know that writing this line took less time than making something like that :) )

No flaws, thing works fantastic with all MSX hardware.

About tilbeurs... it's been a long time since i have been there. A hardware exchange would be a good reason to go there.

No image at the moment cause I am at my work now. I can take a picture when I'at home and post it here or at a site somewhere.

It's very simple...
You just pay for MSX stuff what you think it's worth to you. If you don't feel like paying a certain amount for something, then don't buy it.

In the case of your slotexpander, a MK 3.0 is a very good one. I used to own one myself, but I traded it for a Sunrise 8-slot expander with Chaos. Now, you could say a new 8-slot expander is worth more than a old MK 3.0, but I needed a big slotexpander to build in a PC case, and Chaos needed a slotexpander with a case of its own. Great deal for both of us.

Oh, MK 3.0 expanders also have dipswitches for switching on/off the slots and there are access LEDs too, so you can see which slot is being accessed at the moment.
