Hi! You can get the MSXdev'03 games at www.robsy.net

As organizer and also as participant, I would like to know what do you think about these games: TEKI PAKI, PENGUIN RACE and GURU LOGIC for MSX1.

I can tell my opinion about my own entry: GURU LOGIC. The graphics aren't bad, the playability is great and it includes more gameplay elements and levels from the original GBA game that the Teddywarez version for MSX2. The weakest point is its sound: it is awful, I know.

Please tell me more.

Kind regards,

Ed Robsy - MSXdev'03 organizer

well...
I was STARTING out but had a lot of LEARNING to do, then I met a WANDERER that showed me how to REBOUNCE without SMASHING my head. He also taught me TRACKING, after which he REVERTED to STOCKING food. I continued and saw someone who REBUILDS a BLOCKADE, I couldn't understand his JABERWOK, but I played BILLIARD against this ARMOURED person. He said things like CI-U-TAN and by the time it was 5-OCLOCK, he won and said something about TRIUNVIR. He was the GREATEST player and it was the ULTIMATE game I ever played.

All in all it was pretty boring Shocked!

Then a song came to me:
Where it began, I can't begin to know when
But then I know it's growing strong
Oh, wasn't the spring, whooo
And spring became the summer
Who'd believe you'd come along

Hey! Congratulations!
Did you cheat or not? If not, then you are the biggest GURUmaniac that I have ever known! Then I should create more and more levels! At least, the rest of the original game, to increase difficulty.
What's you opinion, TheSpecialist? I mean, do you think it is a good MSX1 game or not?

The first 180 stages are quite simple... The rest certainly is not. The rotation is confusing since IMHO they're swapped.

Yes, that's true BiFi. Thanks, I will fix it today if I can and swap the buttons again. About the rest of levels, I am currently working in the second world, and I have already converted 70 stages. But the final game should be stored in CD, with different levels.

Thank you for your help!

your game is good, but as you said above, there was already a msx2 version of this game :(

lack of originallity and contestants (only three games?!). msx game programmers are vanishing

Definitely NOT... Most MSX game programmers want to work with MSX2 or higher, not MSX1 with 16K RAM. Although it's charming to work with such limited capabilities, as has been said in other threads about MSXdev'03, teams currently working on new MSX2 games didn't have time to make a MSX1 game.

I wonder why you are always so negative about the MSX scene? It does not seem to follow the facts!

I agree with GuyveR: most MSX programmers are working in MSX2 or higher projects. We are the humble representation of the minority MSX1 community. But hey, we are also doing things, and that's important. At the moment, I am working in a visually-stuning game for MSX1 with an excellent artist: Jon Cortazar. We are porting PUZZLE FIGHTER 2x for MSX! Read more about it in http://www.hispamsx.org

MSX game programmers aren't vanishing. They are really busy with other projects and with their own lives. We ask for more support from final MSX users. No money, no help: we ask just a bit of FEEDBACK.

Kind regards,

Ed Robsy

Pretty boring? YES, THAT'S TRUE. Late night HACKING is pretty boring, because the game had a bug that made impossible to pass level 4. So, how did you get those passwords? Debugger/emulator and patience. I agree: that's boring. If you played the game it would have been less boring, I guess.

Do not worry. I have corrected the bug and changed the password system. TheSpecialist, what's you name? Who are you? Because you created a MRC user just to publish the passwords, didn't you?

Keep playing fair, boy. Or download the new version, hack it and publish the new passwords. It's up to you.hhh

How many people did you have it beta test? It seems that's a typical bug that would have been found in a beta testing stage.

Today, the zoo was the place where I was STARTING, where I found a family playing MONKEYDO. It was an ABSOLUTE disgrace hearing them reading the FOREWORD of a DOOMDOME novel, where they found a RESTROOM in which a CORPORAL was hiding located in a BUNGALOW. There they found EVIDENCE of a PINNACLE moving using a TAILWIND. The SYNOPSYS was GINGERLY as I got a HANGOVER in a JUNKSHOP from where I hopped with a KANGAROO to Australia where I was LIBERATE and all I can say is, WHATEVER.
