@norakomi : I think I got a surprising answer:

I didn't get the "speed settings" part, but I did understand "omnidirectional" ... LOL!

Check out diagonal 1 pixel scrolling on MSX 1 at http://jf.peer.name/msx/demo20110529smbdiag.zip hehehehehehehehe :)

Scroll Screen2 good, but I shoot the bullet has a black square, is so as to appear or is it a bug?

It is not a bug, it is a gradius player bullet Smile overlaid with an ugly test sprite, going slooow for some debuging. This demo runs on top of code made for a different game. Press space bar quick, the fire power of this fighter is endless and does not stall after just 3 bullets.

Seeing this scroll so good, why not make a cartridge for MSX1 and MSX2

MSX 1 vs MSX2 1-pixel scrolling are two completely different engines. Also MSX 1 smoothscroller needs special graphics, a subset of screen 2. It is work like doing two games. And a 8x8 scroller MSX 1 version tends to prevent the MSX2 version from making fully use of MSX2 palette.

So I am not posting this stuff with a "do it for MSX 1" motive. The sketches just made me want to make MSX 1 smoothscroller tiles to show what MSX 1 can do. And a 60fps SNES port is up to MSX2.

hit9918, it was a great moment to see such multi-directional SCREEN 2 smooth scrolling in action!!!!!!!!! Big smile

For a few seconds, I did wish, that you could go back to the 1984/1985 using time machine and sell your game to some big european software house and after that everyone capable of machine coding could learn from your code and.... (you could "accidentally" leave excellent documentation inside your code so every machine coder could understand your tricks!Wink) MSX games of the 1980s could be quite different after that.... (or then nobody used your code in their games and your game stays as a unique miraculous "wonder game"....Sad)

I really wish that somebodies could use your scrolling routines in their MSX(1) games!!!!!!!! Smile

Even "just" Mappy like games with two or three screens wide playing area could have a different feeling, when they could scroll colourful SCREEN 2 screen smoothly.... Big smile

I also really wish that MSX(1) could have such mario world look-a-like smooth scrolling jumping game with rich colourful backdrops at last. Smile

(and MSX2 too, of course!Smile)

@hit9918 and @Paulbrk
Could I have a supermario level as BMP or PNG file with 16 or 256 colors ?
I would like to show (off) an msx2 scrolling with it using the tools I already have
;-)

Dynamic on-demand charset loader!!! Smile Lots coding still to do, sometimes it is just fun to paint for the new screenmode and dream of the dozens games that would be possible LOL!

I have been putting the sources into the packages (except quick demos), use it!
smoothscroller got some bug and needs more concept (memory consumption, collision stuff).
spritesort is finished and easy to use.

Question mark tiles next to brick tiles are a massive colorbleed problem with smoothscrollers,
further mario asks for 60fps more than others. So rather ghosts n goblins runs my head, but my heart is only to level 1, level 2 could be something with color 5 blue sky. This one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypGxYM3MHqY
lets me think some of those stones can nicely be done in 2 colors white and gray.

Which is an example of a screen 2 pixeling rule: as one already is into problems, one can just as well have those problems by taking inspirations from much stronger machines.
i.e. dont look too much at C64.

Found an MSX version lol, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ztFFdGf0wo . By the way, homebrew goblins for 9918: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTejxIozLrA on coleco vision :)

@Hit9918: two or three years ago, dvik realized an impressive gng level 1 demo, featuring a good sprite rotator, smooth scrolling, nice gfx on msx1. FPS was 50 / 60. did you see it?

Unfortunately he never finished it. It also have the original music on psg

(Search for "possible gng remake" on this site, or check dvik posts)
