During our week of downtime, we missed out on an update of Olivier Hustin's amazing platform game engine Vscreen, with which novice MSX users can create their own smooth scrolling platform games on MSX.

As of August 12th, version 1.0 of Vscreen has become available. Although the author is still working on a changelog and new documentation, two fully working levels can already be enjoyed as they are included in the package, together with its full source code.

Simply great!;.....but the late 0.9 was a bit more funny with the extra levels you included! Tongue
Don't mind.....it's an amazing work!. Till now the engine is very "mario" oriented; but how about the possibility the main character could shoot, something like "rick dangerous"?

Possibility to "shoot" is in the pipeline. In theory it's not too hard to implement but there isn't so many sprites or CPU time left so I go the rethink the sprite updates & collision detection routine for this... Crying

I don't know how are you playing with the VRAM tables; but think about using a software sprite, in screen 4 could be more easy to implement bullets like the ones in Nemesis, for example. The effect is a bit blocky; but being a fast moving thingy it's hard to notice...
It's only an idea...Smile

I've been thinking in main character shooting, not the evil ones!. Smile
Yeah, I known that's unfair; but hey!, we have the power, isn't it? Wink

You know what, using blocks for shooting is actually a pretty good idea. I'm going to give it a try Big smile
