Suddenly - as the title says, a fresh title bursts its way into the scene!

Sudden Burst is a run-and-gun game for MSX2 systems or higher, brandishing silky smooth horizontal scrolling, which we're sure, is always a very welcome feat to all fans of our beloved little platform.
The project was kicked off in 2017 by Víctor Marzo and David Martínez Armesto. After some hard labour, this week they announced that we're up for some ruthless demolishing of baddies, reminiscent to good old Contra style.

The setting of the game deals with you being a guerrilla expert, who travels to the Sambisa forest in Nigeria to rescue a group of kidnapped girls. They were taken by the insurgent group Boko Haram, an ISIS-related terrorist group. The plot thickens and becomes a bit more complicated later, as the paramilitary group retaliates against the performance of the hero.

The game consists of 5 lengthy phases, each of them featuring a boss. The action is mainly from left to right, but there will be moments in which some exploration is also present. Also, there's an adventure element, as in the player sometimes being required to find objects necessary in order to complete a mission.
To embellish the experience, there are visual scenes between phases which will elaborate on the game's story.
According to the developers, the game will have a "good ending" and a "bad ending", which should offer some replay value on top of it all.

Sudden Burst will be released in a 4MB MegaROM physical cartridge format. It'll run on any MSX2 machines or higher, and supports both PSG and MSX-Music for the sound.

Pre-orders can be done via e-mail atrusyan@yahoo.es but the authors specifically stated that the deadline, at least for the first batch, is March 15th.

The day I thought what happened to that shooter I once tested and did some minor work for is the day it gets released. Congratulations for finishing it. Highly recommended btw.

Ciao Enrico,

In his email he explains that the game will be shipped from the first business day of April and not the first of April:

"The deadline to make the pre-order will be until March 15, 2021. The game will be sent by mail to your address on the first working day of April (1st day in Spain is Holy Thursday, so it would foreseeably be day 5th of that month)."

Smile

Looking good! I wonder if the game will also support the R800, to avoid some of the slowdowns seem in the video.

That would indeed be nice if the R800 mode would be supported.
