On MySpace we ran into a profile dedicated to the upcoming MSX game Manbow2. On the profile you can listen to two songs from the game and look at a new video that reveals the high level of quality and gameplay this Space Manbow fangame has to offer. This highly promising shooter, the first project of main programmer Norakomi, is scheduled to be released in 2007.

Looking at the movie title, there's at least 9 levels in the game. There just aren't videos of it yet... which is a good thing if you ask me... you don't want to know the entire game before you actually start playing it on your MSX, right?

Indeed, the music is timed perfectly! I also liked the 'fly in the dark' effect as demoed on Bussum 2k6... stunning! I think it's fair to say this is going to be one of the best homebrew MSX games ever.

Yup, this is one of the highest profile homebrew games I've ever seen on MSX. And the best thing: looks like it's going to get finished (now that is really new!).

Hmmm… ‘homebrew’? That sounds too console-ish! I’m used to calling it amateur games, or just games, I don’t think there is precedent in the MSX-world for the term ‘homebrew’. Especially in the context of MSX, where there are no commercial releases (as opposed to homebrew), nor is it a commercial-only platform like the consoles, I don’t think we should call it that Smile. For PC-games that different terminology isn’t used either…

Maybe I should start an “association against the term ‘homebrew’ applied to software for the MSX” Wink.

Amazing video! Give time to Norakomi and the rest of team to make the best Shoot'em Up game ever released for MSX!

And please, do not forget to create great artwork! (cover, manual, disks labels and box).

Great demo! And great art on the MySpace page. Nice idea to use MySpace as well. Perhaps this will give you even more feedback than just from people on MRC.

* Me looking forward to 2007 for SM2 LOL! *

I used homebrew, because it can directly be compared to one of the greatest (commercial) MSX games on MSX ever: Space Manbow.

But OK: amateur if you wish Tongue
