J.E.T.P.A.C. for download

Game developer Imanok is no stranger in these revival years. One just has to mention games like Traffic Jam and the hilarious Txupinazo! to be convinced by the general quality of his output. J.E.T.P.A.C. is another of those games; good production values, and despite a game with modest system requirements, it's not even an easy game. A very retro looking game with decent music and graphics, a challenge for skilled shooter gurus who are able to cope with gravity. Moments ago, Imanok updated his website and added the J.E.T.P.A.C. ROM, which is now available for download. Naturally, if you fancy a physical ROM, there's one at The Cartridge Shop. Happy shooting!

I am a big fan of Imanok.

This is someone I consider a lot : he's very intelligent, very sociable (very modest), and has lots of humor.

I don't think this "gift" is a good idea, although it is very generous of him.
Because it's a real work of making games, especially on the MSX system, and that all deserve their rewards programs.

That's my point of view : buy the cartridge! Tongue

Tip to make the game a bit less hectic:

Keep space pressed to keep shooting so you can concentrate on flying. Wink

Walter, if, let's say, sales have dropped to one cartridge every 4 months, giving the game a publication boost like this will probably increase cartridge sales again. Smile

Fun and difficult game, I hate those invincible flocks of mosquitoes (or whatever they are Tongue) in the first level oO.
I Got up to level 5 after a few tries though =)

@Walter: Come on, Walter!...you're making me blush! Eek!
Don't worry ... it has been quite a lot of time since its release.
(and it seems almost everybody already had the game Tongue).

@Huey: That's true. I think the best way to play with the keyboard is using the laser (autofire) and the propulsion with one hand and moving the player left/right with the other one.

@hap: Mosquitoes where made to be hated! XD... anyway, if you got up to level 5 only after a few tries, the game can't be that difficult... Wink

Congratulations, Imanok! Another great game!

I personally love to play Txupinazo. It's both innovative and fun. Speaking of it, what about a multiplayer version of this game? Wouldn't it be a lot of fun to call your friends and play with up to 4 players at the same time (kbd-arrows, kbd-AWXD, joy1, joy2)? Big smile

@sd_snatcher: Thanks! Wink ... about a multiplayer Txupinazo... better to focus in new games, don't you think so?? Wink
@wolf: You mean something like this?? :D
@Huey: some ESET NOD32 users already reported that. I don't know what's going on... I've just deleted the full site and uploaded it again. Please, try to access again and tell me if there's any difference.

I gave it a quick try on bluemsx (I will try it again later sometimes.) and noticed something which I was not expecting in this game.

You cannot shoot and fly diagonally to left-up direction at the same time.

If I press space first and then left-up, player dives down. If I steer to left-up first and then press space, player goes to left-up, but do not fire at all.

Is that feature there purposely? Really? If it is or not, it may be a good thing, otherwise it may be too easy game. Smile

MäSäXi> If you would have played it on a real msx you would not have had this problem. This is a feature of crappy PC keyboards.

@MäSäXi: As Edwin says, it's because of your PC keyboard... try the same key combination with any other shooter and you'll see. You may try another key for flying to avoid this problem on your PC (try <M>, <N> o <GRPH>, for example).

BWT, tell me when you finish the game Wink

@MäSäXi: Yes its a PC keyboard issue (ghosting). I always try to map the [space] and [m] to [z] and [x]. Those two work.

heck, it doesn´t work on any other games either... Smile right-down or some other combination didn´t work either.... shit PCs....

I changed space to another key and now it worked... Smile

Years ago I got an excellent idea, buy cheap old PC keyboard to play emulated MSX Track´n´Fields and Hyper Sports as much I want without fear of breaking MSX´s or main PC´s keyboards, but hell.... my idea didn´t work because of crap PCs.... Sad

Lurk around on PC forums, there's plenty of keyboards that don't have this (rather irritating) problem.

including mine Face

BTW, tell me when you finish the game WinkDoes it count if you cheated your way through? Eek! I wanted to see the ending.
