Binary Land

The new ROM cartridge game Binary Land from EBsoft is up for sale, and comes in pink. With a limited edition, the signature version engraves a personalization for any one who's interested. Here's you chance to get something unique.

Back in 1983, game publisher Hudson soft released their game title Binary Land for MSX, FM-7, NEC PC-6001, NEC PC-8801, and later, in 1985, for the Famicom (NES). The MSX version was released in Japan by Kuma Computers Ltd in 1984, and features a human boy and a human girl instead of penguins. Binary Land is a classic action platform puzzle game. Eric Boez, aka EBsoft, created a conversion of the Famicom version -from scratch- for the MSX system.

In this action puzzle game, you control the two adorable penguins Gurin and Malon. The younglings, utterly in love with each other, some day got infected with an unfortunate disease preventing them from moving in the same direction. To undo this rare ailment, they need to complete 49 rounds of puzzling on a time limit. Reunite the two penguins in front of the heart at the top of each screen to progress. As you control both penguins at the same time, and they do not move in the same direction, frustrating times are ahead. Guaranteed.

Although the game will run on a standard MSX1 machine, using a next generation model will give enhanced sprites. This MSX release is available in four languages (English, Spanish, French, Japanese), and has some extra features on top of the original, like a two player mode. And with 19 mazes and 49 levels of gameplay, you'd be spending good times at your 8-bit machines.

With only 60 physical cartridges available, you'd better hurry to claim your unique copy. Binary Land comes in a 64K, pink ROM cartridge, fully boxed including a 32 pages manual. Oh, and did we already mention the cartridge is in pink? Just like the original FC version was. You can even choose in which of the four languages you want it printed. Besides that, each copy comes with a handmade doll of one of the two protagonists included at random. It is clear that a lot of effort has been put into the packaging of the game. Kudos for that.
