This month turns out to be a fruitful one for fans of game music and game remixes. Again we've added mp3 music to our ever growing downloads section. This time Bart Roijmans (Low_Profile) has decided to create an all new version of the ending theme from SD-Snatcher of which his earlier version appeared on Arranger Gold. Bart used Reason, Cakewalk 9 and a Roland Fantom XR to produce this brand new tune.

If you have free material for our downloads section which you wish to share with numerous MSX fans around the world, please send it to downloads@msx.org and we will consider your submission. Each addition to the downloads section will be announced with a newspost, and if your entry does well enough: the download will be mentioned in the monthly downloads top 10.

A Jazz Electric guitar from the Roland Fantom XR, processed with a distortion plugin. ^_^

Damn. I somewhat hoped you created it with Reason and I could ask you for the .rsn file to look into. I don't think such a guitar is possible with Reason. Eek!

That's why i use more than one app :/ ...

The guitar in my F1 Spirit remake is 100% reason though. It doesn't sound as good, but it's pretty decent when used in a mix.
(use a NNXT or NN19 sampler with a decent clean electric guitar sound, add the scream distortion and maybe a compressor)

Yeah I know the drill, but I never get it to sound "real" The pitching/modulating always sounds a bit "fake" or artificial if you like. Even when I use the mod & pitchwheels from my MIDI controller instead of drawing lines in the sequencer.

When I create my own instruments from scratch (mostly FM), then I'll let 'em vibrate using aftertouch. To me that's far more human and sensitive to human curves than a modwheel.

I use pitch bend only on synthetic sounds these days... it tends to sound artificial on any acoustic sample anyway Smile in stead of pitch bend i use series of half notes up or down (for example, the start of the guitar solo has a 'pitch bend' down... which is in fact 2 octaves of half tones going down in 1/32 notes.) .. always at much lower velocity than the actual solo, or else it may sound harsh. Modulation I ease in at the longer notes, trying not to overdo it (just trying to make it sound natural)

Tip for Reason and Cubase users.

Bought the Reason version and it's really great. Okay I know, It's the most expensive stickerset ever, but It's worth it!

Too bad they're only stickers, not an actual keyboard.

At the cubase stickers they show a classic layout which I like. And those classic layouts are becoming rare these days. Everyone seems to want crap keyboards, without a del key, with the ins/del/pgup/dn/home/end island at different places, etc. blergh!

Yeah I hate those. I still use an old Logitech keyboard with the classic layout. And with the Reason stickers applied it even looks (a tiny bit) cool!

That website is down at the moment... though a dedicated keyboard layout is kinda nice, but then again, I use different tools with different layouts... Swapping keyboards each time is not quite convenient Wink

I could use some stickers on my keyboard though... many of the actual letterprints have worn off already due to extreme use (or sweaty hands, whatever) Smile Running Naked in a Field of Flowers
