MSX MuSiX Radio

Although the official launch is set at Sunday, 18:00, a brand new MSX flavored internet radio station can now be found on Shoutcast. With cooperation of Tristan Zondag (who started MSX Radio on Live365), Moniz has started a new channel broadcasting music that has something to do with MSX.

One of the main benefits of Shoutcast over other live radio services is the fact that there are loads of ways to tune in. Shoutcast is supported by many applications, such as Winamp, iTunes and Squeezebox. There are also shoutcast apps for iPhone, Windows Phone and Android. So now you can enjoy the great music MSX has to offer everywhere, anytime, at home, your office or on the road!

The channel will be open for everyone, so any kind of MSX related music can be submitted. This can be music from games, remakes, fan made music on MSX, et cetera. If you want to promote your game, fair, demo or meeting you can send in music to musixradio@hotmail.com and it will be added to the playlist.

For some reason the shoutcast app is still showing a name for this station that is not used anymore.
So when you're searching for this station , search for "MSX" and click on "MSX Related music only!" and you'll hear MSX MuSiX Radio!
I had this on my iphone, not sure about other apps, but if you'll look for MSX you'll get there Cool

This is a fantastic piece of news. I expected a Z80-only chiptune selection but right now I'm listening to some orchestrated composition instead. I'm adding this station to my favourites anyhow. BTW, isn't Tristan Zondag the developer of the first (?) linux-based tape conversion software?

Thanks for all the positive reactions!
This was the first morning that I drove with my Iphone hooked up to my car stereo to work with MSX music on!

@VG8020: The music is MSX related, so other versions are welcome to! But for you (and everybody else) I've added some more music, a selection of Xak1&2, Campaign Risk2, Princess Maker & Tower of Cabin.

Again, if you have any suggestions, let me know Tongue

@meits: What tracks are 50hz? All track I've recorded are 60hz, but I've might missed some..

For all: I'm going to record Moonblaster tracks (MSX music/audio) next week and add them soon after, if there are any selfmade tracks you think it's worth adding you can sent the to me in either MP3 or as .MBM (zipped or my email might bounce them).
For my email adress look in the first posting in this news topic

At least rune master 2 was too slow...

If you record Moonblaster music, please record it from a real MSX Smile

At least there's an issue with an emulated Music Module/MSX-Audio. I call it 'legato envelopes'. You can easily test this in MB by selecting one of those 'Alien' presets and put some notes after eachother in a pattern. Play the pattern and you'll notice the sound actually builds up, but with current emulation the whole sound is restarted from zero with each note-on. Luckily, not many tunes use this feature, but some do.

Or rather: all tunes use this feature, as it's part of the synthesis model, but the effect isn't always that obvious.

I've noticed the "metal gear red sun" problem. It could be that the server needs a restart, but that means that all current listeners are cut off. I'll restart it when no-one is listening.

I've recorded all music I've added with bluemsx since its much easier and has better sound quality than from the real thing (my turbo-r produces noise).
I'll listen if emulation give any difference, and if so I'll record it the old fashioned way and try to reduce the noise.
I'll remove any 50hz tracks that should be 60hz and re-record it at the proper speed.
My goal is to have more "original" msx chiptune music online

Note that with blueMSX you can probably run into aliasing issues (especially with certain SCC sounds), because of the resampler used in it.

Actually I mean, there seems to be no artist and song information at the moment ?!?? Is this intentional, hope not Smile2

There's some excellent music there - some SCC from projects I don't know! And excellent covers! Now this channel really does work for the promoting part, except PLEASE, tell me what is playing! Currently it's just teasing, no promoting Big smile

Thank You for the channel anyways!
